fully serious, I was too lazy to create a hidden folder and I figured anyone who ever used my laptop wouldn't see it or any files inside of it when they ran a search on spotlight. I didn't think the folder could be overwritten as I've updated the app before

If it were just deleted via trash, you could have used recovery software to bring it back, but if it was overwritten you're likely fucked.
If you have Time Machine set up, just go back a day if you have nothing new to lose, but if you don't have it set up, then what kind of hardcore faggot are you that has a Mac but doesn't use Time Machine?
