I want to study for ccna. What would be beneficial for me to have in my home network? Such as a cisco router and a cisco switch. Would anything else be beneficial?
Two routers, two switches.
You can get some cheap shit off ebay.

Any particular ones? In a sense of them being outdated or anything?
Any good?

Honestly, you can manage just fine with packet tracer or GNS3.
1800, 2800 3800 routers.
Just about an switch on this page.

Almost anything will work for an NA lab.

I really appreciate this, thank you.

Where are you located?
Cisco does a ton of internships. They always have spots open for their CALO labs.

would I need an 1800 2800 and a 3800 router. meaning I would need three routers or would I just choose one of them?
When I took my CCNA it wasn't hard enough to warrant buying equipment for it but it was years ago and I didn't even go into networking so listen to others.

Just get two of any kind.
If I would you I would use GNS3 for a while before you buy anything.

Aren't there commands one would need to learn for ccna? Or is it just basic routing/networking?
Shit. GNS3 looks like a godsend. Thanks

They're 10/100 switches. If you actually want to use this equipment for your actual network then no. You can find 3750Es with 24/48 1GbE ports and 2x 10GbE ports for $100 each. They're stackable too.

yeah all you need is GNS3 and the cisco ios torrent from tpb. the test has been updated since i last took it though.
Just a heads up but try to avoid Packet Tracer. It's shit.

best shit out there.
I have a HPE DL Gen 9 with 64 gb RAM and a 1T ssd that I convinced my boss to buy with the excuse that it would be used to simulate our network (about 65 branch routers, plus the MPLS L3 core) but in fact I'm just using it for my CCIE studies which I obviously will use to get a better job once I get it
I was thinking about creating a network janitors general but I was afraid that I was the only network fag here

It's for free?
