apologize for noob but i got it to work by disabling wipr and adguard

i enabled wipr because it somehow blocks straggler ads that ublock origin misses.

i enabled adguard only for it's safari list because if i remember correctly it helps sites display properly or something

ublock origin on its own isn't perfect for safari, but i suppose overall it's the way to go

i don't know nearly enough about extensions and lists to understand any interference that may occur using multiple blockers at once

Almost solution. Add this to your custom filter on ublock:

||assets.gelbooru.com/thumbnails/*/*.gif$image
||assets.gelbooru.com/thumbnails/0C/*.jpg$image
||assets.gelbooru.com/r18/*.jpg$image

This site uses CSS3 & HTML5 to display the ``adblocker blocker'' pop up so you click the ``Okay.jpg''. It then places a cookie on your system that prevents the page from displaying the notice again.

> I just won't use the website
Same but lastfm had this and found a way to block the fucking anti-adblock shit that someone had made. These tards havent a clue that every time they put a road block someone will always find a way to go around it.
>>
"blocking" ads isn't really accurate
since websites and their content are requested/pulled rather than pushed to your browser, you're really just not requesting them. blocking suggests that an ad has been push to your browser and you've denied it, which is not the case
>>
>>59979090
They're gif/jpg ads served from a subdomain of the main website, retard. Your hosts file won't do shit, stop talking about stuff you don't even comprehend.
>>
>>59979218
you're a moron if you believe that they're serving their own porn ads. there are no ads on that site when using a hosts file. dumb fuck.
>>
>>59979302
Go take a look for yourself dumbass, you don't even put a foot there and you still talking from your ass.
I told you the ads are gif and jpg pictures from a subdomain of the main website, hence ublock can't block it. Your hosts file won't do shit, only a cosmetic filter will block them.
>>
>>59979441
Just don't reply.
>>
>>59969498

>Detecting if the user has an Adblock without their consent is illegal in Europe.

Good luck on enforcing that, internet police.
>>
>>59981629
>gaining access to information already stored in the terminal equipment of the subscriber
this actually isn't necessary to detect an adblocker
adblock detection is done not by seeing if an adblocker is installed, but by detecting that ad download requests failed
>>
>>59981717
I stand corrected, thank you.
>>
>>59981717
do you know adnauseum?
>>
>>59981754
np
legal stuff can be tricky, you need to be /very/ specific
while "adblock detection" is /effectively/ what happens, it doesn't /specifically/ detect the adblocker itself, rather what an adblocker does
in this case, the latter requires no access to information on the machine, so this specific wording doesn't apply

ps. i'm not a lawer, so i'm also subject to correction

>>59981798
no
>>
>>59981816
https://adnauseam.io/

>As online advertising becomes ever more ubiquitous and unsanctioned, AdNauseam works to complete the cycle by automating Ad clicks universally and blindly on behalf of its users. Built atop uBlock Origin, AdNauseam quietly clicks on every blocked ad, registering a visit on ad networks' databases. As the collected data gathered shows an omnivorous click-stream, user tracking, targeting and surveillance become futile.
>>
>>59979569
This.

I remember even buying stuff from ads or discovering nice things back when they were just that.
>>
>>59969498
Works fine without any nag on Firefox Mobile with uBlock Origin

They say something about javascript libraries being buggy with adblock (where announcements go on regular 4chan, not as a popup) though, so maybe Decentraleyes is burning their anti-adblock
>>
Disabled my adblocker and it worked... failed to realise I have hostfile blocking set up for backup.
>>
>>59981840
this may or may not satisfy "adblock detection", depending on how it works
but i don't see how it relates to that law
>>
>>59981896
HOSTS files don't "block" things per-se, all they are is static DNS entries
that is, they're "manually resolved" or overridden DNS resolutions
HOSTS is not designed with blocking in mind, it's just a side effect if one overrides a DNS resolution with one that points to nothing in particular
>>
>>59981974
I thought it could be a good way of circumventing the whole 'ad download request failling' you posted about
>>
>>59981990
Is there a way to block from the HOSTS file a URL ending with jpg? I am trying to block an image without blocking the website.
>>
>>59982040
no, anything past the domain name is outside of the scope of DNS, and HOSTS is purely DNS
typical URL;
http://docs.something.com/images/doc_thumb.jpg
is comprised of;
<protocol>://<subdomain>.<domain>.<tld>/<path>/<file>
HOSTS only cares about subdomains, domains, and tld's (top level domains)

only the browser cares or even knows about about the protocol, path, and filename
>>

654[1].jpg
58KB, 500x382px
>>59981816
Next step - forbid using non-ISP DNS.
>>
>>59982040
>>59982099
also, something like "docs.something.com" is not a URL, rather an FQDN (fully qualified domain name)
URLs often contain FQDN's, but they don't need to, if you used an IP address in place of an FQDN, then you will bypass DNS and the HOSTS file entirely
>>
>not using uMatrix
>>
>>59982040
>>59982099
adding to that
there is a way to filter/block particular /URLs/ in a transparent, system-wide manner, that is by using an http proxy, like Squid
>>
>>59982099
>>59982198

>registering a visit on ad networks' databases

ad networks dont care about visits or clicks, they use ads for install exe files. AdNauseam trigger auto-download of exes because you are clicking ads.
>>
People simply won't bother to block ads if they were not this annoying.
Thankfully, several sites I use use just some plaintext and small images for ads, which is nice.
