This mother fucker was worth it.
My dad had this guy. He use to do Dishnetwork (I can tell you almost anything on it), and he was on a 5 story building. Dropped it, clanked on the ladder and hit the pavement. My dad thought it was done for. THANK YOU RUBBER EMBEDDED GRIP!
Why don't cell phone companies do this any more?

Friend of mine would purposely drop his in water to fuck with people

I used to do that with my S7 active to really fuck with people, but I started thinking eventually the damned thing is going to get wet and not survive.
Plus it has lines down the damn screen now... ;_;
They still make ridiculously resistive phones, and android ones.
But they are
- Ridiculously expensive
- Have low specs (slow cpu, poor ram, etc)
- Usually in outdated Android versions. I've seen mostly Kitkat phones and a few Lollipop.
For me, those phones are just not worth it. The same i said before when android/ios didn't existed and i still say it.
As long you actually treat your phone with care, you shouldn't have problems
