Is it possible to play PC games using smartphone VR headsets without them looking like shit? I tried using the KinoVR app to stream games to my phone to use in a VR headset but it always looks blurry and low-res and generally shittty-looking. I tried Skyrim using TriDef 3D and Trine 2, which has native side-by-side 3D, and neither looked good.
I just want to play PC games in VR without having to pay a million dollars for a Vive or Rift. Is there any set-up with smartphone VR headsets where games look decent?

You could have spent the million dollars your smart phone cost and spent it on a vive instead

No. Trinus VR looked like total garbage as well.
Came to realize that USB/Wifi is just not enough to handle anything over 720p live video, and even then the framerate is total garbage.

Getting a phone is a much more practical purchase than a VR headset.
Get that chink 4K HMD for like $350, and then NOLO for $100. Eliminates the need for a shitty wireless display solution, and all you have to worry about is a limit of 60 FPS.
