I'm looking for info about long range wifi antenna, I bought some usb wlan card with unpluging antenna RP-SMA.
I don't know which type I should use, Yagi? Plate?
I want to use free hotspots. Anyone have some experience with this?

In general you need a directional antenna on both ends. You could pick up their signals, but not have two way.

so I need omnidirectional antenna?

no, directional is still mandatory.

directional antennas have gain on both transmitting and receiving.
directional on both ends is clearly preferable but not viable for mooching free WiFi like in OP's plan.
Directional will still be much better than without though.
Bump for interest.

The issue isnt receiving data at range, it is sending data at range. You can cheaply build yourself a 2.4 or 5Ghz wifi antenna that will pick up three blocks worth of connections, the problem isbhaving the output power to transmit out to those far away routers.
