Even on Slashdot, which technically gathers together oldtimers, there are people right now discussing the market share of Firefox based on this page http://caniuse.com/usage-table .
Reading the first line tells you that they're using data from StatCounter GlobalStats, and using your brain for 5 seconds reminds you that basically everyone who has installed Firefox in the last 5 years have also installed an adblocker that blocks that and other stats-collecting domains by default.
Then here on /g/ you have complete idiots who use pieces of redundant shit like Ghostery or fall for the buzzwords used by NoScript without realizing that just blocking scripts and iframes with uMatrix that care of everything that NoScript claims to do.

I'm a semi old school smart IT guy, AMA.
I don't participate in autist discussions on slashdot, and old autists are all that's left of slashdot's former glory.
You know an easy way to test marketshare?
Be Google. Record useragents. Detect whether people are using -moz -webkit or ie extensions. Use preprocessing commands like ``[if ie9]''.
There's lots of different ways to figure out what browser a user is using, and chances are, a representative amount of them are using Google.
what if you still use noscript because umatrix is a meme which is too new

reminder that google is not a web browser
>>59948565
Being too new is only an argument against security protocols and other things that are literally untestable.

reminder that you didn't read the fucking post.

my bad. reminder that if you're using firefox or a variant, you're probably actively avoiding jewgle. cloudflare mitm everything which goes through them so they or a government entity with backdoor access to them would be in a good position to do the stuff you suggested.
