Tech wizards, guide me.
How would one go on about switching on a Osborne 1 after who know how long of gone unused.
As far as I know, it uses a switching power supply? So a Variac is out of the question I guess.
But if the capacitors are in good condition, there shouldn't be a problem with firing it straight up anyways?
Shameful self bump.
bumping for interest

You should probably give it to a museum or something, they know how to deal with those things

Just plug it in and try it m8. We all know you have no intention of taking it apart to probe around with an oscilloscope to make sure everything functions correctly, because if you did you wouldn't be asking. Personally, I think it would be fine if you just fired it up.

Already desoldered all the caps and checked em, also checked for shorts.
Just asking for more opinions.

There's not a lot left to do then. Just grow a pair and turn it on. If you replaced all the bad caps, you should be fine. You're thinking about this like its tube technology, or something that's super sensitive.
