Bought an rx480 on pcbg pajeets' assurances that "It'll totally max 1080p at 60fps on everything, bro!" It doesn't come close and I should have listened to my head and bought a 1070. It's now on ebay.

These fucks are now even recommending the 4/570 the same way.

I don't even save that much shit and my younger brother's games only take up like 500 GB in total. I feel stupid just having that much storage although I use the WD for a back up utility instead of general file storage since I don't do daily back ups to an external drive.

$250 Samsung S24E650 1920x1200 PLS screen.

Acer Aspire E15.
Bought one in a store because I was in dire need of a new notebook and my ancient notebook was an Acer too and I was content with it.
The touchpad sucks donkey dicks in hell, shit is slow as fuck (slower than the old notebook which I repurposed as mom internet machine), my guess due to fucking Win 8.1 where I had to spend a whole day uninstalling bloatware.
Furthermore, it's constantly losing screws from the bottom. I am just waiting for the day when it decides to just fall apart. If I didn't need certain windows applications for work, I would wipe it and put some debian on it. Most of all I am irritated by the shitty touchpad, it's just so bad.

TVs are not really supposed to have perfect picture quality after 2 years anymore.

I own a Dell with glossy display. Protip: Don't buy glossy.
>>
>>59940250
PLS is the same as IPS, basically.
Don't make up stories. If you got problems with your display, it's the panel itself.

>colors look strange an unnatural
Did you adjust them? Use a spyder or whatever to adjust your colours. Without hardware calibration every monitor looks different.

>>viewing angles are in effect not any better because of bright sheen on matte panel when not viewed right on
Bright sheen? I don't really know what you mean. Never had matte though. Are you talking about the coating of your monitor?

>Guess I'm stuck with this crap for the next decade then.
It won't last a decade though. LEDs are not CCFLs. My old monitor is still doing fine after 10 years, with it's old backlighting. But you can expect your LED monitor to not make it this long. They are not designed for that.

Sony Vaio with nvidia gpu that had the solder issues killing it outside warranty, not american so couldn't claim the class action lawsuit reward.

GTX 670 which has killed 4 PSU's and is now in a bin. In hindsight a 290x would have saved me a lot of money.

nvidia 3d vision, bought 2nd hand cheap but still was only good for about 20 minutes before it became boring

Steelseries 300 rival, randomly stops working

ipod shuffle, was a gift but it was just a burden. Totally unintuitive and had to eventually use 3rd party software to avoid the bloat and bad design of itunes.

Nexus 7 2012, known for the shitty nvidia tegra gpu that destroyed the tablet's performance if you dared to upgrade past android 4.

MSI z68 motherboard, No offset voltage setting and would randomly reset overclocks for no reason.

HTC desire s. First android free with a contract, I understand why it was free.

A XFX TS 550W 80+ Bronze power supply. Got it for around 60€ and while it has served me well, I wish I could've spent more cash for a premium, (semi)modular unit with higher efficiency.

At the moment it's the most audible part inside the case and trying to route the fully wired cables is like fighting against a tentacle monster from hell...

THIS
Heck I tried to believe in AMD multiple times but they failed me every single time. Not gonna fall for Ryzen meme.

This was my college laptop. Thankfully I didn't spend a dime on it because man was it the worst computer I've ever used.

>lenovo y40-80

terrible keyboard, the screen could glare in practically total darkness, literally every component failed to the point where I was sending it back monthly because I didn't want to work on it myself, and as soon as the warranty ran out (as in, the very next day), the fucking motherboard died (something with power handling, I don't remember anymore happily).

The hard drives they didn't make were okay though.
>>
>>59948014
Does it even still work, today? What happens when you try to use it?
>>
>>59933992
Yeah. Bulldozer and its variants sucked a ton of ass. However, Ryzen's the real deal though. Its strong and numerous cores make the i3 and i5 a waste of money in most scenarios. It's not just one or the other this time. It's both.

Only the Pentium (poor fucks) and i7 (rich fucks) remain. I could see Ryzen capturing the mainstream in the very near future.

>buy a non smart TV
>it just werks
>retarded friend bought smart TV when they were new shit
>the controls are fucking laggy and jittery, feels terribly, by now it's probably borderline unusable at all
Did Smart TVs get better or are they still a fucking terrible meme ? Not even interested personally, as TVs are shit in general, but relatives still need TV advice
>>
>>59957291
Smart TVs are a fucking meme still by and large. The Roku TVs are not high quality panels, software is good but they're slower than standalone rokus, pretty much all other smart TV functionality is garbage. You're best off buying a smart TV if if happens to meet all your other needs and then buying a Roku/Amazon Fire/Chromecast/whatever to put content on the screen.
>>
>>59957749
You need to use the dongles on already smart TVs ? I always thought they're meant to be as an addon to non smart TV to make it more "smart" like
If you need both it's a bigger meme than I thought before
>>
>>59938201
Doesn't EVGA G2 and up have a 10 year warranty?

Did you even contact EVGA? If it's a hardware fault, you should be able to get it replaced.
>>
>>59957785
The "smart TV" of a smart TV is supposed to replace the dongles, but in reality the smart part of smart TVs is shit.

Imagine you're told "This fork can also cut steak!" and then you say, okay, I'll buy it for $20. They hand you the utensil and it's a regular old fork with a small serated edge that wouldn't cut Jello. You'd be better off with a fork and a separate steak knife that did its single job (cutting shit) well.

The Roku TVs if you can tolerate slight slowness compared to standalone rokus (and the Roku TVs are still faster than many smart TVs) are a great bargain if you're okay with the panel quality. All other smart TVs I have tried are a meme. Size, price, panel quality, sound quality, etc. all real purchase decisions but I just purchased a 50" 4K HDR Vizio P50-C1 panel and I didn't even wait to try the smart TV functionality, I just bought a Roku Ultra to connect to it. Have a Vizio M65-somethingoranother and the built in functionality is OK but not great. I'd actually put Vizio on the upper end of smart TV functionality. Sony and Panasonic are fucking abysmal.
>>
>>59957291
I don't really use the "smart" stuff with my Bravia.
But the UI is pretty good for just watching tv.
Turning on and channel switching (DVB-C) is a lot faster than on my old Toshiba dumb tv.

Dude, I'm on your side, but allowing nvidia to grab such important techs like tessellation and even physx is purely ATI/AMD absolute stupidity and shortsightedness.
Only dumber move by amd is to "not" release immediately simple, free and adequate substitute game developers will have no excuse to not use.
>>
>>59958472
>game developers will have no excuse to not use
Except the wads of cash given by nvidia

Check this!!
I had i5 2500k, CPU is really great and no regrets(maybe one of my favorite piece of hw I had,up there with free upgrade (rma)from hd 3850 to hd4890 1gb ddr5=first GPU with ddr5,o boy,if only PC had games back then, dark age of PC but I digress!! )
but it had turbo up to 3,8 if needed.
So,it would oc itself up to 3,8 if needed , and I would crank it up to ~4,5-4,8(winter/summer,fresh thermal paste ,new cooler etc),
but beyond synthetic benchmarks I never noticed some palpable difference in vidya(maybe those 3,8 were more than enough for everything thrown at it(GPU:7970ghz)and I liked modding betheshitsoft gaems /arma/total war!?!
I'll praise 2500k to hell n back but fuck me if I saw one frame difference oc/non-ocd .

And ,amd can't into buying actually good game?
Fuck, if they bought dishonored2, witcher3, some other AAA shit, maybe TW:Warhammer they would double sales of gpus

gimp their sales by making better products

>>

OK,I agree, but if there are just those 2 solutions, AMD should really chose one already and stick with it, as it is ,they make more harm than nvidia.

Just get a dumb TV / computer monitor + a Chromecast. It really is that simple.

i bought an asus laptop for like $1250 just after windows 8 came out. It was really shit for the money with like a 1.4GHz i5, 4GB ram and a HDD that was so slow the laptop was completely unusable within 2 years (even with a fresh ubuntu install). I recently bought a $150 SSD for it and put a fresh win 7 install on it, been okay since then aside from a few random crashes. Such a nightmare considering what you can get for $1250 in a PC at the moment, especially second hand

I fell for the VR meme

>I still feel like an idiot either way, now that I'm working full time I spend $30 on a whim on all kinds of dumb shit.

I know that feel. I used to be crazy cheap about my purchases when I had no source of income, then I got a job and realized how little difference saving few bucks actually make, when compared to getting better quality product.
I'm still cheap as fuck and end up saving most of my money, save for expenses, but that's mostly because I'm content with most of the things I have now.
