Why would you ever purchase a 15" laptop?
>>
I am using one right now.
Dell Inspiron 15.
15.6" HD Display
>>
because it's the perfect size for a laptop?
>>
>>59930183
i'd only consider 19"+ laptops as desktop replacement tier

15" is middle ground, not huge, and not tiny
>>
>>59930139
I'm not a retard. I don't need nothing bigger to do shit on the go. I do have a dock at home and one at the office with 22" monitors.
>>
I've got an Inspiron 15 9560 (current gen) what's the problem?
>>
>>59930182
>>59930185
>>59930212
>>59930266
>>59930295
Why not just buy a 13" laptop?
>>
>>59930743
bc they aren't manlets
>>
>>59930743
nearly every 13" has shit for cooling so unless it's a web browser laptop it's going to be worthless.
>>
>>59930139
OP is right the Blade is only 14"
>>
>>59930743
Too small. I've been using a 14" laptop for a few years and even that's just a little too small for me.
>>
>>59930880
>>59931244
>>59931892
Enjoy being laughed at lugging around a giant laptop.
>>
>>59930139
normies without a desktop or external monitor.
>>
>>59933179
My 15" laptop fits perfectly in my backpack and is big enough for me to code on.

I used to have a 17". It was nice af but definitely bulky and a pain sometimes. 15" is the perfect size.
>>
>>59930743
No quad core or discrete graphics on the 13 model.
>>59933179
XPS is compact and light enough.
>>
ITT: OP needs justification for wasting money on a 13-inch laptop instead of getting the true patrician's choice of a 15-inch laptop.
>>
I wouldn't. Been using my friend's lately because mine died and at least it's 3:2
>>
I'm okay with 15" if it's only moving around indoors where I'll always have a nice desk or table to place it upon. In return it's easier for me to find bigger keyboards and higher resolution screens.

But if it's something I'm taking out and about, and/or actually using on my lap, 13" all the way. I'm on one right now and this is a perfectly good size. Even my 10" netbook used to work in a pinch.
>>
>>59934522
15 inch is garbage anon. You might as well carry around a fucking desktop, everyone is going to laugh just the same.
>>
>>59933179
Kek, practically everyone in classes has 15.6 inch laptops.

Anything smaller than that is only good for facebook and browsing.
>>
why would you ever buy a tiny laptop?
get a tablet instead if you want some lightweight stuff for browsing
>>
>reeeee your opinion is wrong
>>
>>59930743
because 15" isn't that much bigger when carrying it, but it's a hell of a lot more useful when you are actually using it
>>
>>59934860
I'll take the much better portability over the zero benefits a 15" laptop has over smaller ones. Even 13" is a little large, 12" or bust.
>>
>>59934822
Are you so insecure that you would use a less capable laptop because it doesn't seem cool to your peers?
How old are you? Do you not have a job in a tech field? How pathetic are you?
My 15-inch 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar weighs approximately 4 lbs. and is thinner and lighter than most 13-inch laptops.

You must be at least 18 years old to post on this board.

What's the matter little boy? Wittwe handsies having problemsies picking up the big bad laptop?

It's okay. Take your 3 inch phone out of your fanny pack, call your mom, maybe she can help you carry the 3 whole kilograms.
>>
>>59930139
I have a Precision 5510 which is basically an XPS 15, so of course I would. I already have.
>>
There's nothing you could possibly need a laptop for that a T61 can't do.
>>
I have a 13" laptop because I have a desktop

If I didn't have that I'd have a 15" laptop tho
>>
>>59930139
Because I am not a manlet and I don't want to have an urge of gorging my eyes out on a tiny screen. 13 is ok and more compact but it doesn't fucking matter when you put them in the bag anyway so why not 15?
>>
>>59934860
"Zero Benefits"

Larger screen size, can have quad core and discrete graphics, better cooling, room for multiple hard drives, etc etc

Just because something is of no benefit to you anon doesn't mean it's that way for everyone. If you think screen size doesn't matter, why not just use your smartphone plus KB/M?
>>
>>59935579
>Larger screen size, can have quad core and discrete graphics, better cooling, room for multiple hard drives, etc etc
I don't give a shit about any of this
>Just because something is of no benefit to you anon doesn't mean it's that way for everyone
Well given a laptop is a personal device that doesn't really fucking matter, now does it?
>If you think screen size doesn't matter, why not just use your smartphone plus KB/M?
Screen size matters, of course. But 10"-12" is enough for me.
>>
>>59935608
"Zero benefits" and "offers zero benefit to me" are different things, anon.
>>
>>59935616
Again, we're talking about a personal device. It doesn't fucking matter what others find beneficial.
>>
>>59930743
OMFS* HOW CAN PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT NEEDS OR TASTE THAN I, THE SPERG LORD OF ATLANTIS, HAVE?

REEEEEEEEEE

FUCKING NORMIES

*OMFS MEANS OH MY FUCKING SAGAN, I DON'T USED OMFG BECAUSE GOD, CLEARLY, DOESN'T EXIST. IF HE DID WHY WOULD HE PUNISH ME? MOOOOM WHERE ARE MY TENDIES?
>>
>>59935630
It does when you say "There are zero benefits" as opposed to "Zero benefits to me"

CORRECT:
"There are zero practical benefits to making the space bar four times the normal size"

INCORRECT:
"There is no benefit to quad core computers"
>>
>>59935654
No it doesn't. Regardless, you get my point. This is a technology website, not English class.
>>
>>59935680
Great argument anon. You're not being corrected on your English, you're being corrected on being wrong. You can tell me that you love komputers or that it doesn't benefet you personaly all you want, but when you're wrong you're wrong.
>>
>>59935608
>>59935630

Does the expression 'each to their own' mean anything to you?
>>
>>59935716
Like I said, now that you know what I mean you can shut the fuck up about it.

>>59935724
Of course it does, you retard. These are my preferences, your mileage will vary.
>>
>>59930139
but I never did, I use only a 10in Asus EE PC and a desktop for heavy lifting. why do I need something huge on the go if I have my desktop on 24/7 and can SSH into it?
>>
>>59935998
Bigger screen, a resolution higher than 1366*768 so I can open at least two Windows side by side?
>>
>>59933821
Alienware r3 13
>>
>>59930139
bc its a nice size for a laptop, i hate 17"+ laptops, too big for me
>>
>>59930139
Because my normalfag sister doesn't want a desktop for her computer.
>>
I'm looking for a new laptop on which I can run xcom2 smoothly on max settings also 17" preferably. I'm in EU and budget is max 3k€
>>
>>59930139
i am using one right now. Amd Fx7500 Acer. would buy another 15.6 in the future. need the screen estate.

Numpad
>>
Because 15 is the perfect size. The screen is too small on 13 and often a shitty resolution, no numpad, no good gpu unless super expensive gaming laptop.

I use a 15inch Gigabyte p35 with a gtx 980m and a i7 5700hq which is super light for what it is. I carry it around with me daily for school and have no problem with it.

What's the best 15.6" under 300 bux?
>>
Would the Intel HD graphics be enough to handle 1080p?
I can pay an extra for the discrete 2gb gpu, but it Will be a Linux exclusive laptop, no games and such
>>
>>59930743
Too fucking small.
Anyway I am getting t the dell xps 15 which have the same dimensions as a 14inch laptop.
>>
>>59934822
Literally nobody laughs at someone with a 15" laptop except for you, autismo.
>>
>>59939012
Yes.

Using Intel HD 530 for all non gaming stuff at 1080p on my arch laptop.
>>
>>59939362
Thanks
Did you run into any compatibility issue like screen tearing or graphical glitches?
>>
my mom said she would only buy me a laptop if it perfectly fit on my dick, so we had to go with a 15" one
>>
>>59930139
I just feel it's the perfect balance between the portability of a 13 inch model, and the specs of a 17 model.

Given you take a good one, you have a computer that will easily fit in your backpack and will be light, while still managing to have a relatively "powerfull" CPU, and sometime a good GPU.
And it will have screen you can actually see something on
>>
>>59934822
Literally no one laughs. 17 is when it starts to get a bit big but 15 is pretty much optimal. You can code and do work but also watch videos/movies and play games in an enjoyable manner.
>>
>>59939906
Provided you don't have a 1366*768 resolution eh
>>
Because price/spec ratio of 15.6" is much better than everything below, you fuckface.
>>
>>59938879
Me :^)
>>
>>59930139
Yep. Using a t510 at work atm. I rotate between this and a sp1 for mobile devices. Depends on what type of work I am going to be doing. I have to do a lot of reading for my graduate program so I save a lot on printing costs by using my sp1. However, writing on it sucks so I use my thinkpad for papers or preparing presentations.

When I'm home I just use my desktop.
>>
>>59939926
1366x768 at 15' actually is quite good for work. Having a large-ish screen with a lower resolution makes text easy to read and manage. It is of course worse for everything else though.
>>
I hate numpads, they force me to rest my wrists too much on the side when I use it on my lap. I like big screens though, so I would use a 15" laptop if it came with a good keyboard. Now I'm using a 14" one, they never have those.
>>
13-15 inch is the ideal range for a laptop. This is after owning two different 17+ inch laptops. They're too unwieldy and really limit your backpack options.
>>
>>59940812
Same, I feel like I have to sit on the left side of my laptop. Even when I use a desktop keyboard, I rarely use the keypad.
>>
>>59940606
im a webdev so using inspect element in a 1366x768 screen is a nightmare
multitasking in general is kinda bad, but doable
>>
>>59941084
>13-15 inch is the ideal
huehue
>>
Bamp
>>
options not offered on smaller models?

Don't be so naive.

I prefer 13 or 14, but I'm considering an XPS for the sake of going beyond 8gb of ram, a decent video card for ocassional gaming, it's smaller than a 15" would normally be, and it seems a bit silly that I bought be buying a new computer in 2017, that doesn't have a quad core cpu (although it would have little affect on my use to be honest).

I'm only against the 13 because I don't want to replace it in >3yrs, hitting the limit of 8gb, and having a decent video card would be a nice plus.
