I weened myself off by playing games like TIS-100 that actually pushed my brain a little. Then I got in to hacking CTFs. After that became my only "gaming", I switched to linux full time. I still boot in to a windows VM to use office suite, but that keeps me off most of the games.

Then I had anxiety over all this GPU power i'd purchased- figured it was time to learn CUDA programming.

Ultimately, I still play some games on windows to take a break from the big stuff, but once my skills were at a point where CTF challenges were more "fun" and less "bash my head against the wall trying to learn 10000 new skills at once", they started to take up lots of my gaming time.

Try just growing up. Once I hit about 13-14 I realized they're boring and repetitive. Also about the same time I grew out of reading fiction.

the root of your problem is poor impulse control/instant gratification, you'll find other ways to procrastinate, like shitpost on 4chan, since gaming is just a strawman for your personality flaws

on the bright side my procrastination is now funneled into shitposting and lifting weights, running, and going outside to trails and walking around pretending that its somehow productive.
