I have a pcap file that I have analyzed and have found the Command and Control Server and I have found who the infected host is. The question I am given is "what is the final value that the command and control server returns to the infected host"

Anyone know how to find this in wireshark?

Should I leave "Fast Startup" ON? I recently realized it's been turned on in the options since that latest Windows 10 update. While it's indeed really nice to have my computer be completely ready in under 10 seconds I'm a bit paranoid.

I read into it a bit and some people are having problems with it but none of this concerns me. Thoughts? What should I do? I already have a SSD anyway so startups were already rather fast.
>>
>>59929714
Fast Startup can cause problems on some systems with bugged UEFI.
It's usually not harmful to leave it on, but it's the first thing that I turn of on a system that has boot issues.
>>

Leave it on.
The only reason to disable it is if you are going to be dual booting.

You're looking at ~15KUSD for that much storage. Options are either a rackmount chassis with a shitload of 3.5" drives such as one of these http://www.45drives.com/products/storinator-s45-lite-configurations.php, or a tape library like one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-3573-L2U-TS3100-LTO7-FC-2U-Tape-Library-144-360-TB-New-/162339573445?hash=item25cc314ec5:g:VzUAAOSw2xRYZsTN

Tapes are cheaper per unit, but don't hold as much, and aren't anywhere near as fast/convenient as HDDs. Can get a 6TB LTO7 tale (marketed as 15TB including compression) for ~$120 vs 8TB archival HDDs for 220.

Each new generation is an attempt at IPC improvement.
Roughly put, processing speed tells you how fast the CPU is within its generation of CPUs. Terms like Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, Haswell, Haswell refresh, Broadwell, Skylake etc. tell you what generation it is in Intel branding terms.
Judging by >>59931095 you mentioned Sandy Bridge which is likely what your macbook pro is using. That pins it to 2010? 2011? generation of macbook pros.

Use pcpartpicker while using logicalincrements as a guide.

Alas, after the first 2-3 times posting something, you're really just creating clutter. I would suggest taking your search elsewhere, like a relevant forum.

your ram is "effectively" 2133MHz, more properly 2133MT/s (mega transfers per second)
"DDR" stands for "double data rate", which refers to the fact that it can make two data transfers per clock cycle

tldr; it's normal and expected

I don't understand why you think I was asking for people to obliged to help me. I was just observing how op gets attention and I don't. She could certainly have managed that better if she wasn't a /b/-tard but it's something I don't get.
As irrelevant as it is I've helped people like op before. I've posted threads offering to help with programming where I suspect people need it and I once spent 6 hours getting an anon up to speed with his basic C++ course and he was very thankful for it.
I also spent a lot of time in sqt during 2014 but it didn't prove to be all that useful to people as there's a large rift in understanding and establishing just what anon is asking and what anon understands often takes more time than giving an answer. I frequent /dpt/ now.
>>59933551
You didn't even open up a chance for them to help. Nobody knows your issue. I'm not C# dev but I've dabbled with it enough to know that >>59933178 is not a good description of a C# problem.
Your problem is that you're starting this off as a barter but anyone willing to help wants to help, not barter.

how to know if my windows 7 is installed in legacy or uefi? I can't find systemc.log file that every tutorial on the internet mentions

windows 7 doesn't support uefi, so it's installed as legacy.

actually, reading up on this it seems SP1 added uefi spport, my bad.

open cmd, run msinfo32, look at bios mode

thank you senpai, I fired up msinfo32, but there's no BIOS mode field anywhere to be found (I looked on the net to see how the field looks, but there isn't one in my summary)

Only these two informations:
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. V1.9, 30-Mar-15
SMBIOS Version 2.8
Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1
>>
>>59934306
>>59934358
I went to disk management, and there should windows display whether the partition is UEFI, and it's not. It's installed in legacy. Which makes sense, I installed it clean and then updated to SP1, so it's legacy. Thank you. Now of to find a way to install ubuntu in legacy along side win

How would I go about building a career in IT? My aim is to be either a: Network Engineer, Forensic Analyst/Forensic Investigator or a CEH. I haven't been able to narrow it down further but that is a general idea I have so far.

I have no qualifications or certs in IT at the moment. I come here to ask for some guidance on where I should start. For example I could start by getting CompTIA/CCNA/Cisco/CEH certifications or start by doing a course in IT at a college or even apply for an apprenticeship (UK).

Also, where else would I find answers on this topic?

You will be expected to be on the hook for support from now until the day you die, and the phone calls will never end. Anything and everything that goes wrong will be entirely your fault, and everything will go wrong because they are tech illiterate.

Building PCs for normies outside of a clear business relationship is a trap that nobody should fall in to.

Certification and experience. A college level IT course is completely and utterly worthless unless it's a route in to undergrad study and beyond in something worthwhile.
>>
>>59932773
You could do both methods.

The first, editing the existing system, would be vastly harder since you will need to learn not only embedded OS systems, but also the electronics behind them as well as editing or replacing the chips if they are read-only.

The Raspberry Pi method is much easier.
More so with a RPi 0 or 0W model if you want Wifi.
But it will also still require you to learn some simpler electronics stuff in to hooking up the displays, buttons and any sockets.

Alright /g/,
i got this 2011 Dell Inspiron 15r 5110 that came with 6GB RAM (1 4GB +1 2GB card in the slots) and i want to give it the good old +2.
So i bought another 4gb card, same manufacturer, same model number, same base tact. I also tested it alone and it works.
Yet when i use the 2 4GBs together, i get crashes after ~2min of uptime. Had a clean win7 pro install, wiped that and had a clean win10 pro install. Issue still persists.
Only nit i've found is the memory chips on the new one have a one letter difference on the chip spec, yet the memory card spec is the same to the letter. Are the hebrews at the core of this scheme?

When you build a pc, its fairly likely something will go wrong at some point, whether its hardware, drivers, or user error. You do not want to be responsible for that.

Just refer them to dell or alienware or wherever people buy gaming pc's nowdays. Feel free to advise them away from a laptop if its for gaming and give them a bit of insight in to what they are buying and maybe suggest something within their budget, but personally I wouldnt touch a situation like this with a barge pole unless they are going to build it and research it themselves and are just looking for someone to give the 'thumbs up' on that it will probably be alright.

it's hiding them.
to make them not load is impossible because you get them with a bunch of other elements.
so you'd have to first parse the page, remove the element, then present it to the user.
at this point it has been loaded anyway, so why bother.
this wouldn't even work when elements get added dynamically, which it is most of the time for ads, so you'd have to listen to DOM changes as well.

Or simply some fixed amount? (but then they could also just go to a bank)

I currently have a crappy asus laptop on intel i3 and this shit can't handle my pc usage habit.

Here's comes the link....are you ready to call me a massive faggot?

Here goes... https://www.walmart.com/ip/CyberPowerPC-Gamer-Series-GUA4000W-Desktop-PC-with-AMD-Vishera-FX-8320-Processor-16GB-Memory-2TB-Hard-Drive-and-Windows-10-Home-Monitor-Not-Include/51578207

Please let me if this is good for what I need it for.

yeah, it'll do what you're after and the price isn't awful. That said, you could build a significantly better system for the same price but you're not interested.

Since it's going to come with Win10 already, licensing won't be an issue. I'd recommend reinstalling the OS on a small SSD for speed and using the 2tb exclusively for storage.

you need to cover it with a plastic bag. the temps of course rise then.

My father asked me to fix his webcam not working on skype/viber, he has a laptop, the camera is integrated and the camera app of windows 10 works fine
The light indicator shines that it's on when trying to check camera settings on skype, but it just keeps loading and nothing happens
I tried reinstalling drivers for it, although as I've said camera app works fine
I thought it might be something with permissions or shit, but there's no option to add apps to camera permissions and skype/viber isn't there already
Tried to check the camera through browsers, got prompted to allow to use camera, the indicator light lit up but couldn't see any video

that is the wrong path. you can right off start learning c# or c++ which one you planning to get a job in. you don't really need to mess with dinosaur language c unless you are into embedded low level stuff.

I recently got headphones with detachable cables, so I attached a bluetooth receiver to it to connect to my desktop for makeshift bluetooth headphones. I noticed if I even take 1-2 steps away from my desktop, the sound will stutter or cut out. If I walk maybe 10 steps to a different room, it disconnects completely. Is the receiver connected to my headphones most likely to blame or my USB transmitter in my desktop?

previously my bluetooth on my macbook pro stopped working (possibly due to a light spill?), now only has a jagged line crossing out the symbol and only says "Not Available" in the status bar.
but now the wifi doesn't work, unable to list connections and can't turn on if turned off, just says "Not Configured" with an X over the symbol. this part is actually important, almost vital to the operation of this machine.
someone please help, i think this only started after i reset the pram because it kept freezing while loading on boot.
>>
>>59938943
By 'light spill' do you mean a fall or a liquid spillage?
>>
>>59938918
There are tons of tutorials out there. My suggestion would be directly diving into making some useful programs. Like generate a 3 line of strings, save it to a text file with eg. File.CreateText() and then read it back into your program.

Maybe also experiment with winforms or wpf for gui generation. Just experiment and google is your friend.
>>
>>59938971
liquid spillage, it happened once before and i wiped the motherboard pretty well and it worked fine, this time i hadn't taken the mobo out bc it wasn't nearly as bad but the bluetooth did stop working. i figured the water hit just the wrong connection.
>>
>>59938991

>>59938971

my main gripe with this problem is that the wifi only stopped working after i reset the pram? and this is way after the liquid spill. why would that happen

they might have some cheap monthly data plans you could get for 2 months.
at least here there's quite a lot of them around.

Hey /g/entlemen, medfag here. I am trying to override a program's proprietary coding that prevents my taking screenshots of questions or copy/pasting LITERALLY ANYTHING while it is active. I was able to utilize Parallels on my Mac for this using a "free" 3 month subscription off dreamspark to get past the screenshot issues but did not allow the copy/paste. I am hoping to find another simple system that allows for in window simultaneous running of windows 7 on my OSX system, and I found a potential pirated version of the program on TPB, but I am somewhat concerned it is a virus.

So any suggestions as to how I should go about this?

tl;dr I want to run parallels or something like parallels on my OSX machine but I don't want to give my hard earned dollaridoos on fucked up subscriptions and I don't want to brick my computer with a virus ridden pirated program, wut do?

Thanks ahead of time for any response.

There are 3g routers like:
https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Wireless-Portable-Router-TL-MR3020/dp/B00634PLTW (35$)
Probably you can find more and they are not dependent on particular countries.

Also you can get a prepaid sim card from that country and get a cheap data plan. Unless you are wealthy af you can do anything except videos for a reasonable price.

med student man, the amount of debt I accumulated in the time it took me to type this out is very likely greater than your takehome for today's work. So yeah, I am fucking cheap, every dollar I spend right now costs future me 2-3 dollars.

Also have you ever actually taken a "screen shot" of a complex biochemical pathway diagram with your phone and had it come out even close to maintaining parity? If so your rich ass blood must have a much better phone than me.

Sick thanks, and trust me, I tried googling this but the way google wanted me to parse that question was not immediately obvious and it was easier to just take some abuse on /g/ than spend a hour fuddling through search terms and pages of results.

Option 1: stop watching porn.
Option 2: download so much porn, stockpile for drought
Option 3: there is no option 3

Basically you have to get a german prepaid sim card and use mobile internet, make your phone wifi hotspot etc.

And predownload all your video needs while you can like movies, animes etc and get ebooks
