How does /g/ write shit down?
With a pencil.

For ""serious"" documents, I use latex.
Anything else is just txt or source code.
Google docs
It's actually really useful

Latex
How is this even a real question.

This man gets it. Any document that has to look professional. TeX
markdown
Asciidoc
for typesetting I use Groff with mom macros.
Real Unix men use Troff.
At home Emacs Org-mode for general notes. LibreOffice for anything more significant.
At work I'm forced to use M$ Word or notepad.
>>59928501
Org mode for me too
reddit bb code
Just shit? Wunderlist
Longer notes go into gedit/Notepad/TextEdit depending on what's in front of me
Proper word processing is in LO Writer or MS Word; I can't understand how people write at length on phones
Without electronics, it's either a Parker ballpoint on whatever's at hand or a Parker rollerball on a yellow pad

How?
>upload documents to google drive
>someone edits it in google docs because too stupid/lazy to download a copy and properly add to it
>formatting now destroyed and looks like the work of a three year old
>equations overwritten because they don't even show up on google docs
It gets annoying very quickly.
Also I cannot see how taking notes by firing up your browser is not insanely cumbersome.
>>59928734
you create the document in drive, not upload it.
once its in drive and not an uploaded .docx or similar, it's automatically saved to the server with every edit, and collaborating and editing the document is ubiquitous in formatting
then, once all editing is done, or if you were the only one working on it, you just download it as a pdf or a docx, or rtf, or whatever you want.
it's amazing if you work with a lot of documents and don't want to lug around a laptop because it's always accessible anywhere there's internet as long as you have a device.
>>59928734
pretty much this
>>59928857
I like it because of cloud saves, I can work on my stuff from anywhere
If formatting needs to be 100% precise I can download it as a .docx and edit in word or another processor
Microsoft Word. Because I want my documents to be readable and editable by people who aren't disgusting, virginal nerds.

How the fugg do I add nice equations tho, this is not /lit/.
>create in drive
That means no offline editing, and editing only can be done within the browser, which is a bit annoying if you're travelling.
>automatically saved
Are changes tracked?
>don't want to lug around a laptop
I doubt you work with a lot of documents if you work from your phone.
>if formatting needs to be precise I can download a .docx
This breaks the formatting from my experience, it requires double checking every single thing and adjusting a ton of parts. This takes way too long unless it's like one page of pure text.

That's what they stock at work. I don't know if our admins are dyslexic though.
Text files. If it's moderately complicated I TeX it.
Haven't opened Word in five years.

With this abhorrent abomination unto the lord. Also floppy is formatted to low density. And gets fucked up occasionally for no reason. Also no backlight.

I bet that badboy will do triplicates.

>I don't know if our admins are dyslexic though.
They're not. Because it doesn't exist. It's a feeble excuse for illiteracy.
Libreoffice > PDF for printed documents
Sublime > Markdown for code documentation
Sublime > .txt for everything else.
GODDAM YOU FUCKERS GIVE LYX A SHOT!

Not even kidding when I say that love these hardware word processors.
