Not much of a reason to at all unless you feel it runs slow. I have a five year old android phone too and apps launch really slowly on it.

You don't need to really, but it's best to use a custom ROM if you can. LineageOS runs faster than Touchwizz for me in my Samsung S5. I'm not upgrading for a while.
