And just to elaborate on this, the X220 on are a pain in the ass to work on and there is a noticable decline in build quality, same with the T430.

My X201 just died because of a faulty screen cable, I could replace it, but then again what's the fucking point? It was regularly hitting 80C (yes even with new past and a clean fan), it was really only usable because of the SSD and arch being light.

My T420, X200 and T61 aren't getting any younger either, and even with the 1600x900 display on my T420 it's still complete eye cancer compared to a modern ips laptop display.

If it's an Acer you'll need to replace the BIOS, which can only be done through an exe, but otherwise I have literally never had trouble installing Linux to a laptop.

Do you honestly think your mememachine is going to last?
I love my thinkpads as much as the next autist, but it's over.
The new models are no different than any other HP or Acer shit box in terms of build and their UEFI makes installing linux very annoying, especially when they ditch legacy BIOS mode.
