I can answer why I like it better than arch. Installing Arch in a vm following their guide took 5x longer, had to do dumb shit like use the terminal to create user and home, had to do dumb shit like manually edit sudoers, and to top it off was stuck in 1024 x 768 resolution when everything was done. Manjaro installed in 1/5 the time ez and had correct resolution right off the bat with no fiddling around

I'm a former Manjaro user. I used it a few months ago on my three to four year old laptop. I thought it was a great operating system in terms of appearance but in terms of functionality it was lacking. It, for one, lacked the crucial ability to install printer drivers without anguish. I quickly realized that everything Manjaro had failed to do was supposed to be rectified by the AUR. The AUR, apart from being terrible for printer drivers, was just a horrible experience all-around. I haven't yet tried slackware but already I am suspicious of community efforts to develop an operating system. I have since ceased to use Manjaro. I reckon Manjaro could have been a could distro if only it had apt instead of pacman. That, at the end of the day, was the problem: it was using a special snowflake package manager that made what would normally be a 60 second long process into a shitstorm of tweaking in front of a monitor.

In short: I love the UI/DE but I dislike the package manager.
