it works pretty good already, its frozen so it wont get upgraded really, it gets bug fixes etc. now mostly, you can pretty safely use stretch already
i dont understand the post completely though, if only a newer kernel is enough for you and you are on jessie, add backports to your sources.list and install a newer kernel from there

no no obviously ive already gotten to the motion of upgrading the kernel using the backports known, but some things i have dont work properly like virtualbox or nvidia's proprietary drivers, and i am too retarded to make it work

virtualbox isnt in stretch iirc, use QEMU/KVM + virt-manager to manage it, its pretty good
no experience on jewish video cards, sorry i use AMD which Just Works™ with opensource drivers
