I see that there are videos of it working, but I would like to know how well it works.
Is one HDMI to composite converter better than another? Is it better to get one that doesn't need power (like the radioshack one pictured) or one that needs power? Is there one that does s-video?
I would like it for two reasons:
1. I frequently visit and stay at an elderly family members house to watch over them now and then, help them with shopping, etc. They only have the older CRT's in their house.
2. I want to stream and am too cheap to buy an HDMI capture card, but primarily because I don't know which one is good for 1080/60. I do have a composite/s-video capture card and an HDMI splitter, however.
I also saw that radioshack has an HDMI to component converter, how well do those work? I'm certain that those can output 1080p.
Any suggestions?
Remember that s-video is way better than compostite video
Also, composite=/=component
Usually it goes like this
Composite<svideo<=component
But on old shitty CRT it may look the same,and old TV were usually something around 520p, so everything above will look as bad as 520p

thanks! I know that component is different from composite, I just know that component could give me a progressive signal.

>I want to stream
just buy a shitty chinese media player for $20.
they all come with composite out.

$30 media player
add another $15 for lightup handheld keyboard.
av = composite = red/white/yellow cable

component probably could do 1080p but nothing ever really had a 1080p component input.
even if it was a 1080p tv.
also, CRT wasn't 520p. i think it was 480i.
my 27" flatscreen CRT had component inputs but it was a 480i TV.
