Mac OS X has the worst font rendering / hinting there is. But OP is talking pixel perfect, which means BITMAP FONTS.

I was confused with the bad quality then I realized it's not a lossless screen capture.

Pixel perfect fonts have to be made for each font size and weight, which is tedious when some apps want the font size/weight at specific values (floating point font sizes). So we use vectors which scale at any size. Bitmap fonts are still great for indie games or programmers.
