Tracking certainly seems to have become less informative over the last few years. Not sure whether it's because of ever-increasing volume or carriers trying to cover their tracks. The technology is certainly there though. Share more granular location data, assholes. You probably scan those packages every couple of hours as they move through a facility or into/out of a vehicle.

Parcel shipping is very technology involved. I suppose it would have to be in order to manage so many packages. I think OP raises a good point that such a system ought to provide smarter estimates and more transparency. It's 2017, we don't need a parcel service's lies or wishful thinking.
