Theoretically, If I was to have a clone of a device with all identical software and hardware and had matching SIM cards inside, what would happen if I was to call myself?
Would the other phone ring or are phones/SIM card pre-programmed not to be able and will automatically send you to your voicemail box options?
Would the same thing happen with text messages? (My theory is that text messages would work but phone calls wouldn't, but I can't get concrete evidence to back up my claim.)
P.S. I am only talking about cellphones, not home phones.

>matching SIM cards
your carrier says no
That's why I'm saying theoretically. I know you can't, but I'm going with the "what if I somehow got a cloning machine?" kinda deal (also completely fictional, but you catch my drift)

Each SIM has a unique ID so you cannot clone them.

In a perfect hypothetical vacuum, the cell tower will not simultaneously send signal to both phones. It's only one signal. There's a call confirm/deny from your phone that tells the cell tower to either continue transmitting or cut the signal.
Both phones would ring if they are close to each other, but only one could answer and the other would be locked out of the call.

OP here
Great that's actually what I was wondering. I knew it was possible to send yourself a text, but I also had the near certainty that phone calls wouldn't work, but couldn't think of a reason why.
