Does anyone have a GNU / Linux distribution to be recommended?

I've been using Debian Jessie (GNOME) since it came out and I've never had an issue with it. I can work perfectly fine with it. I'm not really a fan of the default file browser in GNOME though.

-openvpn works well
-never had issues with wifi or ethernet
-able to play vidya
-dual monitor works fine

Maybe an ubuntu flavour like Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Mate, etc.

Not Debian's fault networkmanager is shit. There are other options.

If you want a non-shit system that just werks once you set it up initially, you're going to have to make time. Gentoo and Arch are literally the only worthwhile distributions besides the freetard-approved ones. Gentoo for poweruser programmers and Arch for people who just want an individually tailored OS.

Puppy Linux is ready-to-use and requires no extra installation of software. Some hundred MB, so not a lot of extra software.
