I've made a bit of money on a few niche apps targeting the XDA crowd.

People use shitty apps. For the first 5 years of Android, Facebook was literally just a fucking webview

white people will pay good money for anything that makes them feel good about themselves. Think charity, social justice (lol), diet tracking, or some rewards based program.

I think it's pretty shit. There's too many apps to be able to stand out without a huge marketing budget. The stores will only feature you if you shill their latest shitty APIs. And the models for making money basically boil down to irritating people into spending cash or robbing the stupid.
