Took the brave pill after learning chrome was a botnet. It's literally faster, but how does a no name nobody company make a better browser than a company like Google? It's easy, it's not a fucking bot net it's not 6 million lines of code.

It's good for a decent adblocker on an unrooted android.

Wouldn't use it as a desktop browser though. Not because it's not good just because it's not the best option.

People really underestimate the complexity needed in browsers. You are literally running untrusted code downloaded from some random site. No shit you will have isolation mechanisms like an os. Read the native client paper. It's like a god damned VM. Then on top of that you have to parse interpret and render pages.

you see, this it how product reputation works in the real world, and not how the cucks at blackhatworld thinks it works...
>bad products are shilled and over-marketed
>god products spread through word of mouth

thus, by shilling this product online, you make several, negative implications about it, that will damage it in the long run.
>it's cheap bootleg to make a quick buck
>people don't use it, thus it needs shilling
>brave doesn't care about the privacy of people

>>
>>59865697
Brave is the best browser on android for me.
After trying out most browsers it was either firefox or brave. Firefox is so sluggish compared to anything using androids native web rendering but brave doesn´t allow me to chose what gets blocked like ublock on firefox. I settled for the normie way because being able to browse the internet fluidly slightly outweights better privacy settings, especially on mobile, at least for me.
Still wish brave would allow you to change whats blocked. Having all scripts blocked or letting everything run isn´t the optimal solution
>>
>>59870078
Palemoon is good enough but if being a meme is a problem just install botnet. I've never had a problem with Firefox but I'm worried they are getting rid of the old extensions and UI customization. I just can't live without Tree Style Tabs and changing the UI to my liking.
>>
So how botnet is it on android?
I sort of hate all the browsers on android.
I like naked browser, but it doesn't work half the time.
>>

WHY IN THE GOD DAMN FUCK

2) close the offending tab
2) do anything to get away except answer the dialog or kill the program in task manager

This shit means that if I come across some ASS WEBPAGE which decides to serve me an infinite amount of dialogs, OR if im trying to debug something with a lot of dialogs, my only option is to use a task manager to shut down the tab/program

Why would people like Brendan Eich (Mozilla co-founder) or Yan would lend themselves to do something like that, when they have done more for your privacy and security on the web than any of that shitposters from /g/.

Now if you enable DRM to watch Netflix (thing that Brave has disabled by default like it should be, unlike shit like Firefox) of course you can expect any kind of safety because you are running unknown code that not even the people who made your Browser know what it does.

When there are ads, there is profit. When there is a profit, there are jews. When there are jews, there is a corruption. When there is a corruption, people are used as fucktoys for their masters pleasure. When people get fucked, they call out for it and build things such as Ublock, NoScript etc. There is nothing ethical about Brave. There is nothing trustworthy about Brave. It is a botnet, designed to exploit the goodwill of people.
>>
>>59875417
It is. But so is pretty much every single thing on earth as well, and as far as botnets goes Brave probably isn't too bad, not worse than FF, Chrome(ium), Opera, Vivaldi and whatever else browser you are using at any rate.
>>
>>59875464
Please elaborate on your claims.
Did Brave got audited?
How is Firefox more botnet than Brave?
Does Brave release transparent reports about their operations?
How are they more trustworthy than, lets say, Google. Yeah, its an extreme example but I would trust Google if I had to choose between the two.

>>
Brave has improved massively over the past couple of months and the final 1.0 release will probably be out within 2 months. I'm hyped. I don't even have Chrome installed on my machine anymore. Brave is totally better unless you need a specific plugin.
>>
>>59875523
>Did Brave got audited?
I don't think so. But they encourage people to seeing as it would only help them.
>How is Firefox more botnet than Brave?
Bundling of closed source extensions with the browser for one thing. Though FF is probably one of the better ones in that regard, my issues are more with Mozilla trying their hardest to ruin it.
>Does Brave release transparent reports about their operations?
Think so.
>How are they more trustworthy than, lets say, Google
It's mostly the people involved. Mainly Eich who has been a pretty big champion for open sorce and privacy related software, not to mention hiring a person who has sort of made their mark when it comes to developing privacy related software like HTTPS and Tor.

Now I'm not saying Brave is a viable browser as of yet, it's still a work in progress after all. But I do think they have a good foundation for making a privacy minded browser that is not made by Mozilla.

>>59875610
>let's work for years and make an open source privacy oriented browser and cram it full of spyware that would ruin the entire fucking project when we get spotted which we would be really fucking easily
Either they are some of the most inefficient retarded conartists in the world, or they are trying their best to do a privacy oriented browser.

It's a shame the UI is so fucking ass because this just made me love it.

Why is this a feature that browser developers hate so god damn much? In FF I have to use an extension, and in Chrome there is just nothing that allows you to do it apart from manually editing the names. This is more or less a vital feature for me to be able to browse comfortably.
>>
>>59875931
So if we have to take everything in consideration regarding its possibility, we have to take into consideration that Brave might be a side project for one of the Google's teams that specializes in data mining.

Just don't do stupid stuff that you wouldn't do in any browser, like going to a dangerous website that serves malware. One nice thing about Brave is that it not only has AdBlock and HTTPS Everywhere built in, but it also has NoScript integrated.

Also don't enable things like pic related. if you truly care about privacy / security.

Vivaldi > Ungoogled Chromium > Chromium > Palemoon > Edgy > ((((Chrome)))) >>>> dog turds >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Midori >>>>>>>>> Firecucks > Ghost Browser > Yandex browser > Everything else

Palemoon if you want to keep the same extensions and shit tier support for twitter and youtube, or Vivaldi if you want a blazing fast browser with vertical tabs.

1) It's feature bereft
2) Speed isn't everything (you probably used FF for way longer than it was relevant like everyone else on here)
3) Just fucking use Vivaldi if you want Firefox in a Chromium browser
>>

Use Slimjet or Opera.

Where can I get a good chromium build? I really can't build it myself and using ungoogled is a pain sometimes
>>
>>59881076
nope, not yet anyway

Haha, nigger please.

This brave thing is easily better than vivaldi, and ungoogled chromium is an amateur hobby project. You opinion is objectively wrong.

Came here to bash this browser and yell botnet, but after trying it out I can actually see this growing into something good. Definitely still needs work, but out of opera, vivaldi, ungoogled chromium (lol) and this, Brave easily wins. The built in ad blocker and noscript are very nice, and when you think about it it's kinda fucked up that this is the only browser that offers this. The tab previews are comfy af as well. I think I'm not gonna purge this for a while.

Tried it, it has surprisingly good defaults, don't know why firefox never tried to fight for a free and open web that way, but I just solve it with extensions.
A lot of sites doesn't load for some reason, the entire browser is just blank, don't know why that is.
I don't really understand how the extensions are supposed to work.
Are you supposed to install them in chromium and then copy them over or is there a sane way to do it?
I only really needed the autoscroll feature at first, but I wanted to see if I could use it as a main browser.
