>Instead of having data sent to an outside server, some researchers from Virginia Tech have noticed multiple pairs of applications are colluding to extract sensitive data from your phone and sharing it with the other.
>A good example of this would be one application you have installed that you specifically forbid to have access to your location data. Then you have another application that you installed which you feel permission to access your location data was warranted. It seems these researchers have discovered many pairs of applications like this where one with such access is sharing its information with another that you have installed on your device.
Why don't you have an iPhone yet, /g/? Apple's business isn't based on rampantly violating your privacy.

The inter process communication was very restricted on ios. You just couldn't do it. Nowadays they have it but I assume it's still lot more limited than what is it on android. Not saying it isn't possible but I am not surprised this surfaces first on android.

Options for phones in 2017 if you don't want software that spies on you to be shoved down your throat:
>buy one of the slowly declining number of Android phones with good community support and spend the time setting it up and securing it only to be stuck with a stripped down kiddy interface and stripped down shit software that doesn't have basic features that were available on desktops a decade ago (such as script controls for your browser)
>buy an iPhone where you get a walled garden device with worse specs for your money, an even more stripped down kiddy interface, and also signal to everyone that you have an insatiable hunger for cock
>say fuck it and get a dumb phone, optionally purchase an outdated UMPC meme machine so that you can have a portable computer without a stripped down kiddy interface or stripped down software (also possibly signaling that you have autism to those around you)
Where did everything go so wrong?
