That's what I've been asking for a while. I've gotten disenchanted with my smartphone, so I've been trying to research whether or not some of them would work with American providers.

>In Japanese, mobile phones are called keitai denwa (携帯電話)
I've had my eye on the Freetel Musashi for a bit now. It's got this nice blend of smart and flip technology in what I think is a nice-looking cover.
What say you?

I'm sure the bands would be supported. Then it just becomes a matter of finding a way to get the Keitai activated

This is a site that specializes in keitai. Some of them are pretty decently-priced when compared to an iPhone or Galaxy S, imho.

Ive been using one in australia for a few months now.
Its very solid, the screen half is made of metal and the bottom is made from a plastic that feels good in your hand
Battery could be better but dont go anywhere that you need a phone on power for days on end, from what i can tell its caused by both screens being on at once whenever you turn the phone on, one doesnt have a backlight though
The keypad feels cheap, prototype versions had individual keys and that would have been a better idea but whatever
American version soon apparently so that'll be nice
I went to it because I didnt want a flagship so its been pretty good

Is it unlocked or do you need some hyper-sim fuckery on it?
Are nip flip phones safe from NSA backdoors?
Don't know about phones, but other Japanese merchandise is either really good or really, really, bad. Take your chances.
