are the 2tb usb 2.0 flash drives on wish worth the $10?
I don't have cash on hand for 8tb worth of rotary drives and a case+mobo+cpu as a backup, and $40 seems hella cheap for 8tb that I can easily keep as an off-site weekly/monthly backup.

Why is it that opening the same file in both Media Player Classic and VLC will show different runtimes? Pic related. I downloaded VLC just to check if it was actually because of the media players.

I'm trying to use a program called Syncplay to watch shows with friends but its a bit of a problem if the runtimes are different between us. (I use MPC and friends use VLC)
Anyone know whats going on here?

Guys I got a big problem and I'm not sure what to make of it.

I think I have a virus but I have scanned every bit of my computer with Kaspersky anti-virus, malware bytes and the adware tools. I have use that shark tool to look at my network traffic and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

This is what my computer does, randomly on 4chan when I try to type in a quick reply or in the message box and as soon as I use my mouse it will either randomly grab a captcha(like you are moving something) or it will grab a 4chan tab and then try and paste it. Now it only seems to happen with 4chan stuff but I think in the past it had happen with other links as well.

If this has had happen to any of you guys and its the sites is being faulty, please let me know because I'm about to nuke my SSD.

so tl;dr when on 4chan mouse randomly grabs captcha or 4chan tab and tries to paste it(not sure what kind of virus would do that)

You don't need to worry about dns for your server since you literally know the ip it's on.

I'm still not too sure what you're doing and how you've gone about doing it.
>>
>>59851182
I installed esxi 6.5 on an external hard drive. It's connected to a desktop running windows 7 64bit

I configured the ip address as static and basically used the same dns and gateway addresses as my desktop

I ran the network test and it pinged everything normally

But when I tried connecting via vsphere client I got the "unknown connection issue" message. I changed the ip of the host several times but this didn't fix the issue.

Then I learned that the client is no longer supported by 6.5 so I tried logging in by just typing the host ip address into chrome but got a "this site can't be reached" message.

I tried disabling the firewall but this didn't do anything either

>>
>>59851637
>is the host on same subnet, does it respond to pings, and have you tried https?

Yes and yes; they are literally on the same box. I tried changing the ip of the host multiple times. Every time it pings successfully but I cannot connect to it via the client on via httpw
>>
>>59851690
>they are literally on the same box
esxi is an os unto itself m8, if you installed it to an external drive and didnt't boot from said external drive, theres your problem.

it's a server os, not a server software like filezilla.
>>
>>59851749
So I would basically need to build a server with said hard drive in order to connect to it?

Hey this is the same guy earlier talking about installing W7 on my laptop. Thanks again for that, but now I'm having the same issue of "no drivers compatible" during startup on my main PC. On my laptop the issue was fixed with using a different USB port but that isn't going to help this time. I looked around other places about AHCI drivers and tried using NTLite, following this guide below. Second link is a source of AHCI drivers from the same thread

I've tried using vfat, fat and ext2 and it says the same thing but replaces "vfat" with whatever extension I am using. I make sure to change the partition type in /boot/loader/entries/arch-encrypted.conf for the cryptkey whenever I try out a new type.
The way I setup the USB was
cfdisk /dev/sdb //gpt label and a single 7.5 GiB (8GB) partition
mkfs.vfat /dev/sdb1 //or mkfs.fat -F 32 /dev/sdb1 or mkfs.ext2 /dev/sdb1
cp /path/to/keyfile/copy /dev/sdb1

sorry to turn this into my blog: I'm running testdisk to try repairing the partition and will let others know if it works out, then try to document it somewhere searchable later.

Just bought a second SSD for my laptop. Cracked her open and tried to unscrew the screw that they provide to secure the m.2 in place. The problem is that the idiot who assembled my laptop stripped the screw when screwing it in. So as of right now I can plug in my SSD but I had to secure it with tape as it now sits just slightly on top of the fucking screw I can't remove.

2 questions:

1. Will using regular tape be a problem or should I use electrical tape due to the temps?

2. Any suggestions on how I can fix this issue? I was thinking i'd just remove the SSD and slowly sand the tiny screw's side so that it's flat enough to push undone.

Suuure.
Next time try to have a Phillips #0 or #00 around.

Use a cutter and transform it into a flat screw, be careful of not cutting the mobo.
How stripped is it? you could use some tricks like the rubberband one.

Everything works fine, only when I run the windows SSD I must change the BIOS to boot into UEFI. This is fine but the boot takes minutes as with the shutdowns. Is this a good price for this PC? It seems pretty decent for what he's asking. I'm just shit at gauging prices and what things are worth. Especially when it comes to hardware.

In SICP, they tell you you can pass functions as parameters to other functions, which makes it easier to evaluate certain functions.

However, I'm having a bit of trouble implementing one of the examples (summation of the cubes from 1 to 10)

When I compile the following with clisp,
(defun sum(term a next b)
(if (> a b) 0
(+ (term a)
(sum term (next a) next b))))
(defun inc(x) (+ x 1))
(defun cube(x) (* x x x))

(print (sum cube a inc b))

I get the following error:
*** - EVAL: variable CUBE has no value

Why is this happening?
(Also, apparently, when I put parentheses around (cube) in the last line of the code, it recognizes cube is a function, but requires one argument... any thoughts?)

Hi, can you help me with converting mp4 files to webms with a 3MB filesize limit and no sound.

I found out I can convert mp4 to a 3MB webm like this:
ffmpeg -i filename.mp4 -c:v libvpx -crf 10 -b:v 1M -c:a libvorbis -fs 3M output.webm

And after that remove the audio like this
ffmpeg -i output.webm -c copy -an output-noaudio.webm

But is there a way to do it in one step? And how can I keep the original filenames if I want to use and alias for example that converts all mp4 files in one directory to webms?

Sorry I'm not very experienced with this.

They are still on openGL4.1, and when you compare performances on the apple hardware, OS X is behind windows and linux.

why doesnt my xps 13 take a 4 pin headphones (headphones and mic in the same)
i only get audio in one of the ear-peaces and the mic doesnt really work

Not the one you quoted but even if it is USB3 it doesn't necessarily perform at USB3 speeds. I've seen a shitload of cheap USB3 sticks with USB 1.1 tier speeds.

you're after "string manipulation"

for i in $(ls); do echo ${i%.*}; done

Yo, really stupid question.

So I had this smartphone last year that was sort of decent for the price, but it took 2 years until it finally died. So I bought a moto g4 for pretty cheap.

Thing is, I'm going to be honest: the Moto G4 has a screen that gets quite a bit dirtier than the previous one. And I mean real fucking dirty. If I take my old phone and abuse it with my thumbs it won't get nearly as dirty as light use with the Moto G4 for some weird fucking reason. Also, the finger glides quite nicely on the previous phone, while this one... let's say that it's not as good.

Thing is, would I be able to change this with a decent screen protector? If so, what do I have to look for?
>>
>>59857716
Thank you, that looks fancy!

This is my working solution now:
find ./ -maxdepth 1 -type f -name '*.mp4' -exec bash -c 'ffmpeg -i $0 -c:v libvpx -crf 10 -b:v 1M -c:a libvorbis -fs 3M -an "${0%%.mp4}.webm" && rm $0' {} \;

It converts every mp4 file in the current directory to max 3MB webm without sound and removes the original files.

powershell's default color-text isn't very friendly, so there's a boilerplate copypasta that makes it easier, ala "-text 'this' -color green"

the rest of it is just identifying if the destination folders exist, creates them if necessary, and echos if it had to do so.
I like mine because it moves the output and originals to separate folders so that I know when they've all finished

That's called abandonware. Check out the Wikipedia article. Technically it's infringement, but there's nobody to enforce it. Just know the difference between old software and abandonware. Windows 3.1 isn't abandonware, for example.

Will 2500K handle some 4K gaming?

I'm a third world poorfag on a budget.
I plan on getting a 4K display first, then getting a Vega/1080 GPU depending on how it goes and then if I need it upgrading the CPU&MOBO.

How bad would you expect a Vega or 1080 GPU to perform on PSI Express 2 with OCd 2500K?
