none of above

Peronsally i'd do at least 150mbps but that's because that's what I currently have.

Though i pay $75/month for mine and they seem to want $79/month and a regular price of $99/month. Seems a bit pricey, but since i dont watch TV or anything else and I know i can easily use the speeds, it would be my personal minimum.

Do the 150Mbps plan, if that's not some some promo pricing that balloons after a year or so.

$75/month 150/150. USA
>>
>>59829818
Isn't 79$/mo expensive? Not a burger so idk.

I have 10Mbps for burger equivalent of $15/mo.
>>
>>59830178
Not really. At least not in the US.

$50-100 month for anything over 100mbps is fairly common in the US from what i've seen.

Hell the cheapest internet I can get from my current ISP is 50/50mbps for $45/month. 75/75mbps for $55/month, 100/100mbps for $65/month, 150/150mbps for $75/month, 300/300mbps for $99/month, and 500/500mbps for $149.99/month.

Can you write letters to your ward councillor and Orange to ask them to install fiber to your building?

Or, is it a problem with cunt landlord?

yeah but you're in singapore you dumbass.

A tiny little slice of land that would be dead fucking simple to create a cheap and accessible fiber network.

No shit it's cheap there.

yeah man so much better..
45 bongo land pounds = 75 Moose money

The main reason prices are so shit is because Bell wants to move you into more expensive options that make them more money.

>fiber 25 costs $75
>suddenly the Fiber 150 and 300 plans don't look as bad in comparison.

OP's best bet is to find some "new customer" promotion and go with that OR haggle with Bell/Rogers retention and get a better deal.

I am on rogers gigabit plan + Digital VIP tv for $100/month for both
>>
>tfw paying $70/mo for 7mbps

I swear Canada's infrastructure is a joke compared to other first world countries
>>
Fibe 50 isn't so bad honestly. But Fibe 150 is your best option.
>>
>>59829754

in France you get unlimited 100Mb/s for like 20€(can be 10€ if you sub during a promotionnal offer)

they really are ripping you off.

Hmmmm wonder why Canadian internet costs more /s

You morons should really do some critical thinking before replying to threads with asinine replies.
>>
Welcome to Canada where you pay 150 bucks a month to telus for 6 gigs of data on an unlimited mobile plan and outrageous prices for internet and cable (But who uses cable anymore).
>>
>>59831270
Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal are almost as dense as Paris.

Your density argument makes no sense since you can't get similar pricing on fiber internet as Paris in Toronto or Vancouver either despite similar density.

The real answer is that Canadian telecoms are raking in money and not investing.

Gross margin of Bell and Rogers is like 4 times that of France Telecom, indicating Bell and Rogers are overpriced and/or not spending money in infrastructure upgrade.

More like because none of your companies want to put prices down. There are countries where Internet prices are low and population number too idiot. But you can believe what you want.
>>
>>59831318
You do realize they have to subsidize the cost of the network...right?

Otherwise, yeah sure they could charge $20-40 a month for gigabit in the cities, but then they'd be charging $500+ a month to the poor fucks in the middle of nowhere.

So they split the difference. You pay shit prices and subsidize the network in the areas of the country that don't have enough people to warrant a rollout.

>he thinks Bell is running residential services in small cities at loss

Bell just doesn't install or upgrade DSLAM if they don't see a way to make money back.

People in Peterborough are stuck with 25 Mbps on Bell because of this.

Some houses in Kitchener never got Bell DSL because Bell didn't want to run a wire to a dead-end street.

Only service Bell is losing money on is residential telephone network, which they can't shut off because of laws.
>>
>>59831433
I never said they were losing money, but it's a fact they're using the money made from the cities on the rollout for the rest of the country.

Even if it's not as good as fiber, you're still paying for it.
>>
>>59830178
Its Canadian dollars, so that's only 60 real dollars.
>>
>>59829754
Fibe150 objectively best. That's only 10 extra bucks for tripple the speed. And why the fuck do Fibe15 and 25 exist?
Tbh all of that shit is too expensive, I get 120/50 for 25€, but with a 100GB limit. I didn't want to get unlimited bandwidth on another provider (same price) because of a shitty 32/8 speed. I don't see how I'd use over 60GB/month unless I download 30GB worth of games every month.
>>
>I pay $15 for 25/5 Mb in fucking Mexico
>>
>>59829754
essential plus. no one needs high capacity internet
>>
To be quite honest the most important thing to me isn't the bandwidth anymore, but the latency.

I don't really see any differences once you get past about 20Mbps. It's not like anything actually requires more than that kind of bandwidth.
>>
>>59831317
thanks for paying full price, it really helps to subsibize customers that are paying $56 for 8 gigs like myself

>>59831433
>People in Peterborough are stuck with 25 Mbps on Bell because of this.
Bell happens to be on the wrong side of tech.
DSL tech sucks, pick any number of random addresses in Toronto/surrunding area and 99 out of 100 times they will be limited to 25/50mbit max
Thin copper wires suck dick for this shit, DSL won't get any faster and bell as AFAIK is only rolling out its real fiber stuff to high density condos in the downtown core and new housing development.

Meanwhile Rogers updates its DOCSIS hardware, tells users to get new modems and suddenly like 90% of the country can get near gigabit speeds with rogers cable internet.

I don't know a single person that has anything faster than 50mbit with Bell.
Meanwhile rogers is going to be rolling out DOCSIS 3.1 in the near future which will be 10gigabit download / 1-2 gigabit upload.
>>
>>59829754
Id be happy with the offer or the one directly after it.
>>
>>59829754

The 50/10 because it's the only one that will be available to you once you check your postal code because they only offer the higher packages to rich areas and new houses.

>Can get 50/10 with Bell
>Can get 1000/100 with Rogers
>>
>>59831446
>it's a fact they're using the money made from the cities on the rollout for the rest of the country.

They aren't nearly as spending as much as France Telecom.

They have 4x gross margin. They're making 4 times more profit on same amount of sale. This figure is after capital investment, not before like you seen to be thinking.
>>
>>59829754
Seeing these threads I always wonder How much would it cost to open an ISP in a middle-sized city.
I am tired of seeing people getting scammed for an internet connection.
I pay about 20% of my minimum wage in a 20 Mbps/2Mbps.
>>
>>59829754
Fiber150
>>
Jesus Christ what's with those speeds? I get 70/10Mbit Flat rate with landline phone + digital TV + 2 analog for $28
On top of that I get some Samsung phone which I don't care about.

Fucking Balkans

Business has no datacaps.

Fuck this. I don't go to McDonald's and get up to two hamburger patties with my Big Mac.
These corps need to be mandated to advertise price as the 99.999% average upload and download speeds at the respective tier.
>>
>>59833607
Let's increase the cost by 150 so everyone can have full speed at peak time genius. We should do that for highways too. 20 lane highways everywhere.
>>
>>59833623
Comcast has added $.02 to your XFINITY® XKash™ account.
>>
>>59833607
So if the website you request only had a 1mbit link that Is Comcast fault?
>>
>>59829754
Jesus Christ, those prices should be criminal. I've got 100Mbs for ~$30 per month. Even get 1GBs at uni.

Sometimes I feel like the US is a third-world country when it comes to their internet.
>>
>>59833607
shared infrastructure != individual infrastructure
The only retarded thing ISPs do is data caps on line based services.
Data Caps on mobile services is logic.
>>
>>59833732
That's what happens when you won't even bother to regulate capitalism
>>
>>59833732
>Sometimes I feel like the US is a third-world country when it comes to their internet.

It is but OP is in Canada.

Paying $93/m for unlimited 305:305mbit in the middle of nowhere, Norway. Gbit is another 90, but in Oslo we get gbit for $60. In ameripoor $93 translates to about $27/m after adjusting for not being in the one of the world's poorest "first world" countries. Why do you guys have so shitty internet?
>>
>>59834303

Americans live in the worst of all possible worlds. We don't have a free market and we don't have state regulation. The entire ISP infrastructure of the country is owned by two megacorporations who choose not to compete with each other and throw large amounts of cash at politicians' campaigns to keep their gig going.
>>
>>59829754
>>59830460
I work for a local internet service provider. First of all, do NOT order straight from the website. It is never updated and prices always change. Second, get a list of providers in your area. Can you get only DSL or cable? What about fiber? Do your research against the providers in your area online and then ask about their current Internet specials. Make note if any are 6 months to 1 year promotions. Ask if you can stretch the promotion to 2 years.
