I know that at least half of /g/ disapproves fingerprint scanners
but uses them anyways
because they are afraid the FBI or any other organisation would collect these biometrics. But what about iris scanners, not the Samshit that can be unlocked with a picture, but the one that is using deep scan technology like Windows Helllo gadgets do.
What is your opinion on them, not Win10, but actual and good working iris scanners

Install Gentoo

I have nystagmus. Shit cant get a clear image on my Iris anyways.
>>
>>59829229
>nystagmus
had to look that up, twitching eye huh?
you have expirience with them?
I personally wear glasses so everytime I set up an iris scanner it won't auth me right away but their recognition improvers over time
>>
>>59829271
Its pretty much just random twitching. I don't notice it as I was born with it. Its not very extreme but its still random twitching to the left and right. As a side note there are 3, general, types of nystagmus, one where the eyes shake vertically and horizontally, horizontally and last is vertically.

You can also get nystagmus from certain jobs. Long haul truckers can get it from watching road markers go by and train conductors can get it from watching trees and railroad ties. There is also a slim chance from being VERY sick.

If I lived in the UK I would also be considered blind.
>>
Almost forgot, people will think I'm high, or have a concussion as symptoms are similar to that of nystagmus.

What?

>biometrics
Less secure than a password, so trash.
>>

that's some weird adjustments your eyses made, but impressives it is able to

What?
part of /g/ hates on fingerprint scanners because muh data but is complaining if the newest phone doesn't have one

>biometrics
>Less secure than a password, so trash.
proof it, an actual iris scan is safer than any password

also what's with that phone you posted?
>>
>>59829498
>an actual iris scan is safer than any password
You can be forced to unlock it with iris they can't force you to give password.

You can still refuse.
You're also missing the point since the average court of law isn't going to torture you to reveal passwords but they can and will allow police to physically force you to use iris scanner.

You cannot prevent them from unlocking biometric scanner but you can with a password.
>>
>>59828867
It is really simple.
If it is free software, then it is fine, if it on a system that is mostly non free software, then there is reason for skepticism.
I think a good system can be created, but right now I don't really care what is created as long as it is proprietary.
It doesn't matter which mass murderer dictates that you have to use such tools, I personally won't use it.

fair enough
>>
>>59829627
If you say you forgot the password or refuse to give it they won't tell the police to beat you with a wrench.
If you say you won't unlock the iris scanner they will tell the police to make you unlock it.

You LITERALLY can't stop them from unlocking it, with a password it's your choice.
There is no benefit unless you're a retard who can't memorize things.
