People will take their privacy for granted, and as a result the government will put bans on quantum cryptography for commercial, or personal use. This will be similar to the battle they fought with the EFF to allow the use of encryption except this time the feds win. Data acquisition points will become much more sophisticated, and research will be put into the first AGI. Once the first AGI is spawned automated spying will become much easier as you no longer have to totally assist in machine learning tasks. It becomes a simple matter of asking the computer who the terrorists are. People will know of this and not question the moral implications because they "have nothing to hide." Spying will become more frequent in rural areas via regular satellite and drone flyovers, and people will become desensitized to these. Internet service providers will start being able to restrict the content sent over their networks, and with greater computing power, become points of surveillance separate from the data acquisition points already owned by the government. This will happen through a case involving a child porn server which forces the court to appeal to the majority, and let said ISPs monitor their networks. PSYOPS will become a more serious investment as we will know more about the human mind than ever before, and people will be encouraged to be more passive without any direct control through subtle manipulation. Cryptocurrency will be unaffected but will die out due to a lack of popularity. If no one maintains the ledgers the system will fail. Hackers will be a dying breed as most operating systems will automatically report malicious software, and the ISPs will limit potentially dangerous or controversial sites. The complexity of more modern computer hardware and systems will start to rise exponentially as we find new ways to compute at the hardware level that will be faster than ever. AGIs will be a common household system much like cortana.
