No password managers are safe, each website has different requirements..

I write mine down in a little paper book that I carry everywhere. But that's not safe at all

I don't put random characters as my pass, i just created a pseudo-alphabet (1 character in my alphabet is = to 1 english letter) and write a word with it.
as long as only you know the alphabet (it must not be really generic or easy), it will basically appeal as a "random string of letters" type password
