My monitor has a USB hub where all the cables plug in, it provides power to the LED strip, so you don't see any cables, and when I turn off my monitor, the LEDs turn off too.

They're not bad at all, I quite like my machine. Upgrade potential is regular. You can throw in any LGA 1155 CPU in mines, and has 4 RAM slots. Also has two PCIE slots, and 4 SATA ports.
You can throw in a small GPU without issue. I have a Zotac GTX 970.

I'm shopping for a new desk.

IKEA's 78" Linnmon is the perfect length for me but I've heard it's super fragile and I'm worried it couldn't support my system (which would be on the far righthand side over the legs).

I've thought about buying a countertop and screwing the legs to that, since even the particle board ones are sturdier than the cardbord Linnmon, but they're 74" long - just a little shorter than ideal.

What should I do? I'm on a strict budget.

I got the IKEA Bekant, but it's only 63". It does have metal supports and is not cardboard, adjustable height.

Just be careful about the cardboard bit. They don't take well to clamp style mounts, or drill-through mounts, and after a year or two they WILL begin to sag. Shorter time period for heavier setups. Good value but the drawbacks must be considered before going into the purchase.
