Intel is responsible for Vista failing. had the Pentium 4 been good, there wouldn't have been performance problems.

vista was a hdd hog. if SSDs were popular back then vista would've been an ok OS.

Vista was a good OS, only normalfags hate on it due to their lack of self thought.

It was meh when it came out and had several bugs, they were fixed with the service pack or even before
Now you can spot retards when they are telling you how bad vista or Me were

Our dear Vista dies officially in 3 days when Micro$oft drops support permanently.

Am I the only one that loved Vista? I still think its design is superior to 7, 8.1, and obviously 10. The overall design theme with the taskbar and titlebar in full screen programs really blended well. Much better than Fisher Price XP and the retardation that is 8 and 10.

Thanks, Vista. RIP 2007-2017

Vista also had a pretty good UI, considered by some even revolutionary, had the GPUs been good at the time...

This. Vista did everything 7 could and was easier to pirate.

Of course not, Vista's the best remotely modern Windows version.

They stole a bunch of shit from tiger because tiger was a decade ahead of XP but it was a fine operating system. It only has a bad rep because retards trying running it with like 256mb ddr2 and a p4 at 2ghz. It's okay when people bitch about it though because you know they got sold a shit computer at one point in their lives which makes them worse than the gays

who /still on xp/ here?
>>
>>59804374
We're talking 2006-2007. SSDs only existed as a concept back then.

That was the problem with Vista. Nothing used AMD and Intel was just getting around to stop fucking with NetBurst. Prebuilts were all RAM starved because XP didn't really need much. HDDs were slow as shit. And onboard was absolute garbage, which didn't play well when Vista used all sorts of composting. This is all in addition to the other problems Vista had, like being buggy and breaking driver support for damn near everything anyone owned.

You can't just say "If people had hardware that didn't exist then Vista would have been great!" Vista would have also been great if it wasn't unoptimized Pajeetware, like all the other iterations of Windows that came after it.
>>
>>59805101
idk. The way that Vista changed the title bar to a nice dark blue/gray color when you maximized a window was awesome, IMO. I didn't care for AERO transparency in Windows 7 that much since they splashed transparency even in the title bar in 7. And 8.1 and 10 are horrible.

I used Vista until 2011, when I finally installed Windows 7 since I bought a new PC. Tbh I never had any problem with it. The design was by far the best Microsoft has ever done on a Windows and I didn't have any driver/optimization problems.

Windows 7 was far more unstable for me than Vista.

I had a Vista laptop with Core Duo. To begin with it had lots of issues(I seem to recall it freezing whenever connected to Wifi, for instance), but SP1 fixed most of those. After that it was pretty good.

Vista is good and the best os from MS, it's just normies didn't get it in 2006. So MS released it again in 2009 and now it's the m'best os

>Everyone on /g/ hated Vista and praised XP back when it came out. I installed Vista two years later in 2009 and it wasn't that bad.
That's because when it came out, Vista was terrible. See >>59807323
>>
>>59807931
Honestly the biggest problem we had with Vista, aside from the terrible performance at the beginning, was the whole nagging people everytime they decided to open any fucking file on their own. Win7 fixed UAC. I liked Vista, it's just it was fairly buggy, a bit too flashy for cheap computers as well... customization went out the window, there was this driver signature nonsense and the transition from 32 to 64 bit was a bit painful back then.

Let's be honest though, everytime a new MS OS comes out it's a piece of shit and it requires many updates before it's perhaps as usable as the previous version everyone loved. I use Windows 8.1 right now and I can say that 8 really felt unusable at first, while right now for me it seems really stable, still up to date for most tasks and honestly looks nicer than Windows 10. But I'm really sure that (aside from the botnet business) windows 10 will get that big update that will turn it into another Windows 7 SP1, and another Windows XP SP3, and another Windows 98SE. Basically a flawed OS that you can still rely on because you know where it hurts and you can handle it daily.
>>
>>59808015
> windows 10 will get that big update that will turn it into another Windows 7 SP1
Well, Windows 10 at release was a pile of shit and 2016 release have a few bugs (for me it's AMD HDMI audio sometimes disables when I turn off the TV and stays disabled when I turn it back on), but otherwise it's solid if you don't pay attention to UI. At least shortcuts are same.
>>
I worked at a small computer shop in early 2007, right after Vista was released. What a goddamn mess it was.

We had several prebuilt models available you could choose from and we also made fully custom builds if the prebuilds didn't have what you wanted. Vista of course had garbage driver support in the early days. Our prebuilds had parts we chose carefully so that they were compatible with XP and Vista. But because Vista was the newest and the "best", of course people wanted it. We tested it every day with various hardware and we knew what it worked with and every time a customer wanted something that didn't work with Vista, we warned them. Did they listen to us? Of course not *. Then they blamed us because their shitty USB TV capture stick didn't work in Vista.

Some customers said they only need 1 GB of RAM. We told them 1 GB was way too small for anything Vista-related. "But the box says it's enough, so that's all I'm paying you for!". Fine, have it your way then.

There were some cheap mobos that didn't have working sound in Vista. What did people buy from us? Those fucking mobos. One day our stock of those garbage boards just "disappeared" because our boss got tired of the complaints.

Then there's this one time we went through six different mobos to find the one combination of hardware and software where *everything* worked. All because of Vista.

Vista's finally going away? Good.

*) okay, sometimes they did and were actually reasonable, so we secretly gave them small discounts.

It still needs some polish but I'm fairly sure by 2018/19 it will be rock solid. However by then I expect them to show a new version (I know they said it would be the last one, I just don't think it will)
>>
Vista was shit, you can't copy more than 10 files at a time without the whole system freezing up. This was with 4GB of ram. Awful.
