Computer and File naming Scheme

I name all my computers words that start with M. Music, magic, merlin, moody, etc.

Pictures of anime: charactername_subject1+subject2 (e.g. cirno_naked-bigtits), kinda like boorus

I name my computer whatever pop culture thing comes to mind first. My last laptop was called TARDIS, my current one is called Overmind. For file naming, it's typically in the format of NameOfCharacter(s)-Description.png, although I've changed things over the years, and sometimes I'll just keep the filename if it wasn't just a simple timestamp.

Machines:
Org name and random hex digits if collisions are really a concern. At home, person name and make/model of the device. Only virgins give their machines silly names.

Hard drives and other storage devices:
Just buy a bigger hard drive. For archival purposes: label with year and content type (e.g. photos, videos, etc).

Anime pictures and porn:
Whatever forms the primary key for the site you downloaded it from. For pixiv, that would be artist ID, post ID, and page number. You should be able to reconstruct the source URI from the filename. You might also throw the creation date in there for good measure.

Anything else:
Take a look at how people name things on classic file sharing networks. People working together tend to arrive at the most sensible solution.

I gave up organizing my pics in 2009. Someday this machine learning bullshit will pay off and a bot will organize my porn for me. I'd imagine tag based systems are better than hierarchical directories but I cbf to find out.

Tagging systems are alright, but they still have their limitations.
What you really need is an object oriented system.
