My Nexus 7 has been increasingly slow and I recently discovered Cyanogenmod is no longer updating. Whats a good custom rom for my 2012 edition Wi-fi tablet? I've been looking at Paranoid Android and Dirty Unicorns, but I figured I'd consult /g/ first. The wiki has lots of good information but I want opinions. What do you guys run?
The slowness Is probably caused by the right side cup/cone bearings, maybe even the big ball retainer.
If you can get the spare parts I would suggest rebuilding it with at least new 1/4th inch balls(grade 100 or less).
If the planetary gear unit is fucked, replace the whole goddamn thing.

oh shit negros
DU. Just never message the dev. He's good and the rom is good, but he's got a hair trigger flame tolerance.

If you need/want cyanogenmod continuation.
Get lineageOS. I'm using that on my Galaxy S4.

It's pretty much Cyanogenmod continued. You will need to get the Google Apps seperately, right after the installation if you want them. No way of adding them later.

Cyanogenmod was closed down by Cyanogen at the end of last year but the developers forked it and are still working on it. It's now called LineageOS.
I haven't updated to it yet either because I need to backup my text messages first (just haven't gotten around to it). Maybe I'll do that today actually.

Where can I get the google services apps seperately? Everywhere I try to download an apk my anti-virus flags and quarantines it.

N7 2012 cheaped out big time on the flash chips. It won't get any faster whichever ROM you put on it. In fact, it will probably get slightly slower each time due to the extra writes that come from reinstalling.
~5years is a pretty good run for a tablet. It's time to get a new one.
