How often do I need to rotate my ram?
>>59797550
Sometimes
>>59797550
Once an upgrade. As in, when you upgrade your RAM.
never/ you watch the nock
Never you idiot.
Don't you know that if you rotate it, you cause the bits to flip and you destroy the data?
You can only safely rotate ECC RAM.
Of course if you're about to sell your build, then you should rotate your RAM to erase the data.
When ever the amount I have is no longer enough...
Are you looking for answer like, "According ISO 37381 one should upgrade ram once every 23 and a half months"?
Every 15,000 miles.
Monthly.
The static density of the ram needs to be discharged every once in a while so it doesn't get used to the same ram slot. Otherwise your ram will die from voltage toxicity.
>>59797550
PMSL who comes up with this shit.
>>59797550
once every 1000 animes
Don't forget to apply thermal paste to the IC chips once you've rotated, otherwise it will explode
>>59797550
Every time you change the oil in your PSU.
>>59797550
Rotate your computer once a day instead, it saves you the hassle of having to remove the ram before rotating them
>>59798030
Just be careful if you do it this way. You need to rotate it in the same direction your HDD's platters spin, otherwise you'll add inertia and reduce performance of the drive. Though you won't have to worry about it if your drive is mounted sideways.
>>59798115
>>59797550
You cheeky little fucks. Do you also remember to replace thermal paste every month? or do you ever take out your cpu, send it to the factory and ask them to change all the pins on it every year?
>>59799003
>"send it to the factory"
>posts on /g/
>doesn't own a wire bonder
does anyone know a good place for RAM alignment?
>>59797770
>he doesn't rotate his RAM every 5,000 miles
pleb
Also: make sure you flip your drives every 30 days. Upside down / right side up. If they're mounted sideways it's even more important. It's especially important with SSD drives. Otherwise the Earth's magnetic field will imprint on them, reducing performance.
>>59797550
Everytime you change it's thermal paste.
>>59799287
>make sure you flip your drives
wouldn't need to if he kept them in 0G unlike some pleb
When should I replace my SSD belt?
How often do you change polarity on your case fans to rewind them? I usually do it every three weeks but I'm afraid it's not enough.
>>59799588
You should have a sticker on your case that says when to get your storage fluid changed
You should attempt to change it every time you get it changed
>>59799177
>wn a wire bonder
You have a wire dealer? Ok but where do I get a good receiver dealer?
how often do I need to pull out all the cables and connectors and blow on them? I try doing it every week or so but I feel it's not enough
>>59799231
I get mine done at my local Currys/PC World (UK).
Only takes 1 hour and they do it for £45 if you book in advance.
I used to do it myself but one time I fucked up and erased my wireless drivers.
>>59797550
Every 3 fan oil changes, make sure to mark the sidewalls with chalk so you don't place them back in the same slot.
This is even more important if you have 4 slots, uneven ram data wear can cause damage to the memory controller
>>59799709
Pour some isopropyl alcohol into the connectors and you'll never have to blow on your cables again.
Remember to speak gently and compliment your hard drive every day to improve its performance.

I find it easiest to just replace the case fans each week.
As often as you can get someone different to ram you.
>>59799618
Fuck man, I forgot to rewind my case fans this month. Is there any way to salvage them?
Every year you need a RAM rotation and balance because the front and rear RAM wears differently. Also in most of the world where we address memory on the right side of the stick, the left RAM wears extra because it the bits have to travel a farther physical distance, so that's another reason to rotate your RAM annually.
Usually your PC mechanic will do this if you take your PC for regular inspections but you can do it yourself too and save a few bucks.
>>59797550
once every 10,000 miles
>>59797550
Every 16 pentabytes
>>59797550
Everytime you cum or else the residue you leave on your mouse or keyboard will put you at risk of a short circuit.
>>59799618
I run my fans backwards for a few hours after using them to prevent burn in
>>59797550
Every 2 months per year
>>59797550
Depends how mission critical the machine is. If it's not something used for work that would have a big impact if it went down for a day, then just use it until the RAM dies.
wtf you guys are all idiots you can't rotate RAM because it can only go in one way
>>59803436
> Doesn't know he has to rotate his RAM
>>59803436
>tfw too intelligent to rotate ram
I just buy new ram every 4 to 5 months, usually once my cursor start to pull one way or the other. Stay mad poorfags.
>Tfw laugh at the shit in this thread and then suddenly realize, that you could probably realistically make millions, selling RAM alignment crystal pyramids and case fan rewinders for audiophiles.
>>59797550
>he still rotates his ram
you know if you download more ram you don't have to rotate it. right?
>>59801425
>>59802177
>>59802646
Computers are seriously a lot of maintenance. Maybe we should buy macs.
>tfw you forget to rotate your ram, causing rotational velocidensity to build up and crash your PC
>>59803436
You have to rotate it 360°
>>59803436
Not that kind of rotation. Have you never gotten your tires rotated on your car? It's like that; you swap the ram sticks around to different slots to reduce uneven wear on the bytes.
