It's basically dead at this point... Cause for concern?

its because firefox is shit. lackluster support for emerging html5 functions, slow as shit, still a single process, filled with useless junk.

At the end of the day, chrome is bloated, but it's fast and offers about as good customization as firefox will, once the lockdown completes. and critically - it's fast and reliable.

No, it won't. It will always be a shitty botnet browser that won't let you install anything that harms Google's interests.

Correct me if i am wrong, but hasnt FF had single process only not that long ago? I had to install Nightly and turn on multiprocessing and it crashed regularly. And I am a 50+ tabs kind of guy so I just sticked with Chrome as a main browser.

What a useless graph.
A pie chart sort of makes sense if you want to visualize a split in usage, but when you use such a tool, you have to adapt the data so you can display something meaningful.

The entire point of a graph is to convey information and this graph fails on every level.

When you gather information like this, you don't have a third of the data marked as "unknown".
And if it is hard to track, you simplify the data when you make such a graph.

Don't they teach children how to make a graph in burgerland?
Or is this such a specialized skill that is reserved for those who get a degree?

I don't really care much about who uses what browser, but that graph is so offensive.
If a student handed that to me, I would not just fail them, I would make them rethink their desire to get a degree.
>>
>>59795094

honestly doesnt matter, it's good news actually. Less browser engines = more unified browser features.
I see zero problems with this. Chrome is open source as well, so if you ever disagree with anything they do - just fork it.
It's literally no problem, Google doesnt even make it that hard to do.
Competition means that sometimes people and companies lose and go under. This is perfectly fine.

I'm sick of firefox and hate that it isn't the browser or movement that it was in 2004 but there is literally nothing else.
>>
>>59804883
And? It's still dead. Firefox will be as well in the not too distant future and all you'll have is a choice between Google's throbbing botcock or Apple's. You sit there and comfort yourself with the fact that Opera once existed though.
>>
>>59804951
And if Opera did it for 20 years I see no reason Fx can't last another 20.
>>
>>59795155
Less programmers = better browser

It's when you hire a bunch of fucking programmers right out of College that they want to change shit instead of spending 2 months fixing a single bug. I don't need the menu bar to be hidden in some sore of Hamburger button.
>>
>>59804999
you've obviously never worked for a software company. stay in school kid.
>>
>>59804139
> HTTPS Everywhere is webextensiom
Not on AMO, only if you install from chrome store.
>>
>>59795094
HOW DO I DOWNLOAD OTHER BROWSER. IT SEEMS TO BE 2ND MOST POPULAR
>>
>>59795094
Still the most popular foss browser that dosent force the 16gb ram meme on you.
>>
>>59803295
Google is an advertising company. They massively advertise their browser on their own sites (Google, YouTube) and use malware tactics (bundle Chrome with other software).
>>
>>59808779
google is malware itself.
if you use windows you'll see that persistent google installer background process plus their ad revenue is not as big as their metadata spying revenue.
>>
>>59808761
that doesn't mean much now.
>>
>>59797586
What?
>>
>>59795766
I'll switch to a branch because Firefox is open source :^)

>ITT fag trust analytic websites blocked by most Firefox users
good show. old chap

sure thing.

Is CHromium counted as Chrome or in Other?
>>
>>59810456
Chrome of course.
>>
>>59810456
They use the same user agent, so they're counted as the same thing
>>
>>59810484
>>59810500

Redpill me on Chromium, is it as good as anons say? Is it free from google spyware?
>>
>>59810518
it has less. if you don't want google spyware, you should look into these:

ungoogled chromium
yandex browser
vivaldi

all these are based off chromoium but don't have google shit in them. yandex even has built-in encrypted DNS.
>>
>>59810518
>Is it free from google spyware?
It has some features that contact google, like search prediction in the omnibar and maintaining a malware domains list, but you can turn them all off. Nothing really more than Firefox does.
You can also use ungoogled-chromium or apply the ungoogled-chromium patches to a more recent source if you don't want it to contact google ever.
>>
They brought this on themselves by trying to be a shitty Chrome clone. They should have stuck to the power user market.
>>
I'm honestly surprised they still have 8% left.
>>
>>59800468
>that can happen if your numbers hold steady while the market expands
Which is not what is happening here.
>>
>>59810559
>yandex browser
has Russian spyware instead.
Pretty sure Vivaldi has some spyware too, but I’m not sure about this one.
>>
>>59795320
It was always bad, better alternatives just came.
>>
>>59795430
>implying they are interested in your furry posting blog
>>
>>59810762
>has Russian spyware instead.
are you from russia? if not, you should use it. why? because the country you;re from probably has no way of accessing that data. there isn't a single US or EU judge that can request your data from Yandex.
>>
>>59795320
It didn't keep up with the times. It brought extension support too late with Edge.

Also yeah it was slow as shit already.
>>
>>59810968
We’re currently running the elections in my country (France), and the candidate highest in polls (Le Pen) is unofficially supported by Russia.
So no.
(Well, I’ll soon leave this country anyway)
>>
>>59795094
Still better than Chrome.
>>
>>59811063
We are fucked m8
>>
>>59811063
>is unofficially supported by Russia.
you're an idiot. she's not supported by anyone. watch less CIA news, Mohammed.

>>
>>59812046
>hurr durr, she’s not supported in 2017 by Russia, look at this document about the 2012 elections which is surely relevant since absolutely nothing can change in 5 years
>>
>>59812167
>muh Putin
What makes you think that Putin has the power to influence an election in Western Europe, Chaim? He barely has control over ex-USSR countries. Stop gurgling state sponsored propaganda designed to shame everyone who opposes EU cuckery as a foreign agent.
>>
>>59812167
you're a fucking idiot. russia has the budget 1000th of what US has. if anyone's manipulating, it's the US.

why the fuck do you think your country's been overrun by 3rd world black people and muslims? did russia do that to you? are they driving those trucks in Nice?

you're a motherfucking idiot. your country's done yet you're repeating MUH PUTIN bullshit that CIA feeds you.

kys so some Muhammed doesn't have to.
>>
>>59795094
Their biggest mistake was gerri g rid of theathe as and now plugins. I mean what is the point if using it now that it is a woruse chrome clone?
>>
>>59795094
>It's basically dead at this point... Cause for concern?
more like cause for celebration. firefox is a dead project more concerned with activism than a quality product. it should die and make space for real browser projects like brave.
>>
>>59795094
I strongly think that's a cause for concern. That's not because I use Firefox much anymore, I don't. It's quite frankly a slow pile of junk.

I remember when Seamonkey forked off to become phoenix then firebird and then firefox. Back then it was all about making a lean fast browser. At some point the Firefox Corporation decided to focus on adding bloat while removing useful features. Then they moved on to ignore development of the browser all together in order to focus on SJW bullshit.

These are reasons why I would be happy to see Firefox die. There is, however, a reason why I am not happy with this: It basically leaves Google with a monopoly on browsers - specially on the GNU/Linux platform. Remember, there is no GNU/Linux Internet Explorer or Safari. The usable alternatives are/were Chrome/Chromium or Firefox (Firefox isn't much of an alternative anymore, though, too slow and bloated).
>>
>>59795492
>Firecuck/SJW users are the dumbest of them all.
To be fair a lot of us (like me) started using Firefox long, long before they went all SJW. And I still use it for some specific things.

>>59795528
>its because firefox is shit. lackluster support for emerging html5 functions, slow as shit, still a single process, filled with useless junk.
To anyone trying to deny this, it's absolutely true and you can easily check it out for yourself.

Firefox has a feature called "profiles" where you can have one browser profile for home and one for work. Start firefox and open two windows and run something JavaScript-intensive in both. Now try starting one firefox --ProfileManager instance with one profile and another one with another profile. This will spawn two unique Firefox processes (with different settings etc). Try running two windows like that side by side with the same intensive JavaScript. The difference is HUGE.
