We controlled a hexapod with it, including autonome behaviour using computer vision on real time 720p video data. so it can definitely do more than 'control a lightswitch'.

This is one I'm working on now personally(the other one was a school project). It's ESP8266 based, so it has a lot less horsepower. It also uses 1 dollar servos instead of 50 dollar servos the other one is using.
