Building a PC is like using Legos.

It's not technology. It's can you research for 60 seconds what parts go together, and can you plug those parts together.

There's no intuitive problem solving. There's no application of these boring skills to anything useful.

Knowing about building a PC is as useful as memorizing what ad campaigns are targeted towards you to get you to buy shit you don't need. You're literally sheep, buying overpriced stuff you're told to.

Ban PC build threads by stay at home NEETs. Keep this board about actual tech & intuitive thinking by actual intelligent people.

You probably haven't seen it before, but to do that you go to http://indeed.com

I know that the prospect of having an actual job kills the average /g/ user, but go with it.

If pc are Legos where are the directuons?
>>
>>59789537
well, simpletons need /pcbg/ threads on this board so others can hold their hands while they put the legos together
just like you have arduino threads on /diy/

Given the amount of parts available and information about them, it takes quite a bit to get into the right build, specially if you never did that shit ever before.

>Keep this board about actual tech & intuitive thinking
That would mean removing 90% of the threads.

Lol I'll give you that I've used arduino help on the Internet for basic help for a Class I'm in.

At least arduinos make you think in low level embedded mindset. My class didn't give me arduino IDE, we had to write embedded straight C with uCos, using a FLEXYICE to directly flash the EEPROM after cutting a trace line.

Arduinos/ATMEL 328P are Powerful. Don't diss it, it's OPt in for levels of control.
>>
wow OP you complaining about it is fucking way worse.

Imagine you're in the special Olympics and you bitch andnall the retards for being retarded. You're still participating you intelligent being you.

Unless you're serious gaming or serious development, there's no need to buy a $500 CPU unless you're a consumerist whore

But keep thinking spending exuberant amounts of $$$ makes you cool and high tech
>>
>>59789537
You Lego faggots need to die
>>
>>59789951

Also, it takes troubleshooting skill when a PC is built and doesn't turn on. Legos don't have that. :)

You'd have to personally buy your own parts and build your own PC to feel what it's like, it gives a great sense of accomplishment and it's fun.

Building your own PC also makes it very easy to upgrade components without throwing out the whole damn thing like a Dell or some shit.

Also, knowing which parts are compatible and offer the most performance per dollar is another impressive money saving skill.

Also, when you build a custom PC you can now build them into super small cases. Most prebuilt PCs are huge towers.

Honestly, I can go on and on about building PCs because it's fucking awesome, but most importantly:

You can save a ton of money that you would otherwise spend on prebuilt.
>>
>>59789951

Think of it like building a bike vs buying one pre-assembled. You can save a lot of money just buying the individual parts and you can customize exactly what you want (a lightweight frame coupled with cyclocross tires, disc brakes and drop handle bars).

>It's not technology. It's can you research for 60 seconds what parts go together, and can you plug those parts together.

If you have to do it on a budget, it's much harder. Also, picking parts is pretty tricky. Some parts overheat or have serious non-user-fixable flaws (GPU having too little RAM, for example) that you have to do your research.

I am not able to build my own computer.
I can not even change the RAM. RAM is like having luck because I just remove it and plug the next in and if it fits and if the computer boots and can use it all is fine. I don't know anything about DDR12345 or something.
I work as a programmer for over 7 years now.

>>59789537
As long as you avoid the parts marketed to gaymers the price is good.

Pre-built PCs usually skimp on something, which is why they may look cheap.

Example of what the average pre-built gaymer PC looks like:
>Intel Core i7 6700k
>16GB memory
>1TB 5400rpm drive
>400w psu
>No gpu or old model (e.g. Nvidia 7**)

1. 6700 would be cheaper, must cucks here don't overclock anyway. (Does anyone still?)
2. 16GB is nice but overkill if you know how to disable all that background win10 malware.
3. A cheap SSD would give a large speed increase. Perhaps just a small one for the OS and a large HDD for gaymes.
4. Even a GTX960 is going to ask too much of a shitty 400w HP psu, especially if you add some hard drives. Those things usually dont pull much more than 260-300w.
5. See point above. Since it has a shit psu you can't simply throw in a decent gpu.

This happens everytime I see someone trying to buy a cheap (prebuilt) PC.

Please. There are many 32-bit controllers that cost just as much as a mega328 or even less and can do much, much more. It ain't the shittiest thing on the planet, but there are many better options.

There are a lot of different arduinos, but they are all micro controller test boards with a high markup price.
Programming a microcontroller is a lot more limiting than when you make a desktop application.

Granted, all the efforts of the arduino team is to make the development more accessible which basically means that they want to hide stuff from users for whatever reason.

If you want lower level than arduinos, you have to go to fpga's, but that is a distraction for most people who want to make embedded systems.

I'd disagree twenty years ago but yes, with color coding and "it only goes here" design it has become trivial.
