I saw a job posting for a position that I am interested in.
The only issue is that the posted salary range is about $40k under market value.
Should I apply and ask above their posted range?
I'll do the job for the asking price.

Yes, stand up for yourself. Don't let the kikes kike you.

I'm just wondering if it's professional and/or ethical to do so.

If you think you're worth more, then ask for more. Prepare your arguments, state clearly why you think you deserve a higher pay. There is no professional issue there. The ethical problem would be to work for a job that doesn't pay you correctly.

It's really not even what I think, it's what the market rate is.
They're asking for a software engineer with bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience and they posted a salary range of $30-35k.
In this area, similar postings are $65-75k.

Show them that you're worth the market rate.

$60-70k is pretty standard for lower mid-level developers outside of the major tech and financial hubs.
