This hotmail silent update feature sucks. Does not give the impression that it is working and sometimes you press f5
I'm stuck with this shit. I know there are good alternatives and I'd better host my own shit. The problem is that I started to use hotmail in 2006 and almost everything is registered in this shit. In short, if I lose access to my hotmail, I lose my life.
Use an email client with it, idiot.

hotmail was so awesome before MS bought it and fucked it up, it was a simple email sign up and use

Just slowly change those things over to a new email.
Setup your hotmail and that email in thunderbird and use both of them. Every time you do something in a service registered to the old mail, log in and change it. After a year or two you are hotmail free. I still have my hotmail account from the 90's. I just use it for signing up for shit that might send me junkmail.
