a bit out of the loop here /g/, i need some help. doing my first build in many many years now and need to decide on storage.
i dont want to use an ssd and only want to spend $130 or less right now. I was thinking:
a) 2tb wd black
b) or a 1tb wd blue 7200rpm with a 2tb wd blue 5400 rpm for media storage
are the blues reliable or would i be safer with black? is 5400 rpm still acceptable for media storage (ie watching movies off of)?
or whatever 3rd option you think is better

Fuck WD, they relabeled all their shitty Green drives to Blue because no one fucking bought them. Get HGST or Toshiba.
>5400rpm
Fucking never
If you want performance, get an SSD. If you don't want performance, get anything else.
I think hybrid drives are still used. As far as I know they are dual solid state and spinning platter drives that do some fancy caching on the solid state portion that allows fast read speeds on data that is accessed often. That may be an option to consider.

But you can get both a 2tb hard drive and a ~250gb SSD for that price.
