320k MP3 is all I need, once I feel comfortable with my library I'll shrink it to VBR mp3
>>59769010
But Opus can go at 96kbps without noticeable compression artifacts, why would you use 128k AAC/mp4 instead?
Yes. But i'm still using it because its useless to transcode my library from mp3, and i'm not going to re-download/rip everything.

What kind of dipshit rips in a lossy format? Rip in lossless to archive, then convert to lossy for (portable) use.
>>59767324
are you retarded?

Source?

I believe there were tests on hydrogen audio or something.

Picture is related, my lossless archive is stored on 12cm diameter polycarbonate disc.
I'm not wasting my storage with an exact copy of what I already have.
>>59769186
Sure, but the point of ripping is to get easy access to your files. You just said yourself, you aren't going to re-rip everything, that proves that your lossless archive is worse than a FLAC archive. You are incapable of easily following new formats. Besides, it's not like you can really "waste" storage, it's pretty fucking cheap.
