I'm turning 25 this year. I have a completely useless master's degree in the arts (writing) and now I need to find a job.
My STEM GF says that programming jobs are in high demand and that I should do that.
I've started teaching myself HTML/CSS on CodeAcademy (is that a good site?) and I'm planning on learning Python next.
Is it possible for me to get a job that pays reasonably well without a degree? What languages should I be learning? What are the easiest coding jobs to get with zero experience (I assume I'll have to do some unpaid stuff)?
Write a book

already did.
no one wants to buy it
If you know how to code a bit try becoming a tech writer. They're the people who write/improve documentation. Every dev loves a tech writer who understands programming, even a little bit.

Write a good book.

Write a good one
In any case, programming isn't the magical moneymaking trick people make it out to be.

Well, thanks for the help then. I guess I'll need to figure something else out or whatever

Get a job, hippie.

Whats the name of the book?

What type of book? Genuinely curious.
Tuning in to this thread, I have the same predicaments as OP but no gf and I have to fund my anime figures.

2nd'd
I keep getting mixed messages. All the jobs in my area need a software engineering degree, but then I hear stories of people who just put "lol I know javascript" in their resume and were hired for something.
I just want to get any IT job within a year or 2, I wouldn't care if I were paid minimum wage, anything is better than selling weed, petty theft, dumpster diving, browsing junkyards for things that might sell and scrubbing toilets part-time.
web developer because high demand

Sell your book here on /g/.
Learn to program servers with Python (Flask, Django etc. Shit writes itself) to go with your html/css, then trick someone into hiring you to build their website.
