What went so right?
Intel couldn't sabotage them bad enough to make a case for itanium servers.

Jim Keller?
>>59755286
first 64 bit processor, intel still to this date leasing that technology from AMD
>>59755286
Intel thought that fab technology would allow Netburst to scale up to 5Ghz and beyond without too much effort but physics prove them wrong.
They had quickly patch together a hybird P6 and Netburst design a.k.a Core architecture when they realize that they couldn't scale beyond 5Ghz without a blast furnace.

full retard

Funny how nowadays you can get an Intel processor to 5ghz if you have a good chip.
>>59757447
And it's a blast furnace.

Keller left before the final design of the A64 was ready, and everything he did there was discarded. Why do people keep spreading this bullshit?
>>59755286
Transitioning to x86_64 was better accepted than IA-64

That's not an Alpha

>keller left before it was done meme
why do people keep spreading this bullshit? That's how he works, he gets it done and then he moves on.

Why would you want to heat up a cool 60c 5GHz Intel to 900-1300c?
That would ruin the stable OC.
I know AMD users do this because pouring melted steel on their CPU cools it down.
