I currently only have a T420 that I use for everything, and it never leaves my desk. The display is slowly killing me though, so I'm getting an external display soon, only problem is, I'm not sure how to optimally set the two of them up.

Pic related is my current plan, get a monitor stand, open the T420 to 180° and put half under the stand, and use the external as the only display. If anyone has thoughts or suggestions, let me know.

be aware that the Costco shelf actually requires that a shelf be in the middle of the rack, to hold together the top and bottom vertical bars. all the other shelves are optional as to where you put them and how close together they are, but there absolutely has to be one in the middle. I didn't realize this and find the desk height pretty uncomfortable for seated use

Oh god that big monitor makes me so sexually aroused. Been stuck between PPI or refresh rate. I have a 144hz now and I'm not sure I could go back to playing games at 60hz. Plus higher resolution is so much eaasier than 144hz on hardware. You have to appease every little nuance of each engine, need fast storage, ddr4 4000, 6600k @4.8ghz, 980ti@1550mhz etc and even then I can only get it in some games.

Just reorganized my room for more space, also rotated the left monitor. Feels much nicer now.

- comfier chair, with better lumbar support
- sort out cable management

One of my monitors died but having just two is much more manageable, although it's a little annoying having bezels in the middle.

Freed up some room so i was able to move my setup to the adjacent room on a nicer desk and hang a tv above.

Now I can watch movies with proper speakers the couch and have friends round for beers and cones so i'm very happy with the change.

is the difference between normal IPS and ultrasharp really that big?
