I'm trying to run a recent version of Office on an otherwise Linux environment.
Wine doesn't work (yet). Should I virtualise using VirtualBox or KVM-QEMU?
Run libreoffice instead dude.
Export your shit to pdf when sending it to people.

If you can into QEMU, you should do that. Overall, if you get it working (which shouldn't be that hard if you already know vms at all), QEMU should give you the best performance for the resources used.
VirtualBox, just werks
VirtualBox because it's developed by people who get paid for it.
If you can, always pick software made by professionals over volunteers.
QEMU should perform better and covers a lot more platforms.

strong bait

Can't you run an earlier version? 2010 onward are all basically the same.

MS office is vastly better if his work requires a lot of document processing, excel or slide-making.

he's not wrong

>not a new ip
stop vouching yourself, faggot
>>59730747
>pretending to be ble to see ip addresses in a pathetic attempt to bolster his argument with "hacker" cred
pathetic really
>>59730710
If you're doing document processing you shouldn't be using an office suite at all.
>>59730710
Libre can do anything that MS Office can
It's a dank meme to think otherwise
Many shiny buttons in MS Excel on a "modern" UI doesn't mean extra features.
>>59730762
you can see new ip's posted in threads
dumbass..
>>59730710
For that sheit you can use office online or an older but still relevant version of "office".

Calc is kinda buggy, but the word processor is great.

He is wrong on some extent. There are a bunch of shitty spaghetti code out there made by so called professionals. But this meme will never die, because their development is more or less predictable and users may think its a good thing even if it's cause feature creep or unpatched trash.

Here's a serious answer, OP:
#1. Re-evaluate. Why Microsoft Office on an otherwise Linux environment? Is this necessary? Do you actually completely depend on a feature of Microsoft Office that is not available in LibreOffice? If not, consider simply using LibreOffice instead, it is an excellent drop-in replacement.
#2. If you absolutely MUST rely on some feature of Microsoft Office that you cannot work around or recreate in LibreOffice, my advice would be VirtualBox over QEMU.
