I can basically guarantee it isn't kill by static. Once everything is mounted and hooked up, the total capacitance and heavy ground planes everywhere in a PC can absorb a surprisingly large shock. pc still works fine 4 years later, better than ever actually. I installed proper dust filters everywhere and noctua fans and internal sound dampening foam so it's totally silent now and rarely needs cleaning.

my brother tried to build his own desktop
couldn't get it to power on no matter what he tried
according to my parents, the poor sad fucker called some computer professional to come over to the house and get it set up for him
apparently he had the power supply plugged in such a way that it was feeding power back to itself

he has since completed uni for some CS degree and earns twice as much as I do working for some app/website builder. although when i ask him what he does for his job he struggles to come up with an explanation for what he is paid to do

Turns out Windows was assigning the Windows 10 SSD as the C: drive, which makes sense since that was where Windows 7 was originally installed. So although it finally booted to the proper 7 drive it was trying to access the 10 install for all its resources. Had to go to the registry and edit the drive letter and then it all worked perfectly. It was a huge relief but such a massive pain in the ass and I felt like such a retard when I figured it out.

Dumbass friend fucked up his PS2 while he was installing a modchip he bought from some shady supplier but blamed it on me when all I did was solder some wires that were far away from sensitive components. I had even warned him beforehand. He ignored the fact that I was the only person in my electronics class that managed to assemble the electronics robot kit and make it work as part of a project whereas everyone else failed in making their kits work. He held this grudge for 10 fucking years. Funnily enough, he fucked up his XBOX360 when he tried to mod it himself because he was too fucking retarded to understand the online instructions. Not surprisingly, he blamed the person writing the instructions for not being clear.
