>>
>>59688077
You could probably do something like this with KLWP. Those riced homescreens that completely change the image for each screen? That's how it's done.

I don't have the patience for it but if you split a single wide image into many images and use each one individually it could work.

Blackberry was the greatest thing that ever happened to Android. They are the ONLY company that is doing something aove and beyond the standard black slab, they don't bloat their shit up with useless garbage, the stuff is well made and they commit themselves to updates and bugfixes. Only issue is they are expensive. Thankfully, even though they are not necessarily designing the hardware anymore, their software will continue to live on. The KeyOne will be good, I'm sure.

Tell me more about the Moto G5+. Any glaring hardware issues that would make me consider a Moto G4 instead?

Also, is it Lineage-friendly, and/or is it possible to remove the Amazon ads from the prime version?
>>
>>59689937

Only thing I can think of is that the camera in low light isn't as good as the flagships are in that regard. Missing USB-C/NFC if you care about those things. Thats all I can think of. I'm just using stock but I'd imagine flashing this wouldn't be hard once the devs get on top of it.

I don't know about the g5, but I got the prime g4 and easily removed the ads with a flash. I figured it would be the same with the new one.
I just bought the g5 and should be here tomorrow, and I can't wait.

A friend of mine worked for Samsung Canada's customer service division. His experiences there convinced me never to buy one of their phones. Basically, he was instructed by managers to blame problems on the customer even when it was clearly a defect with the phone, and try and hand out as few warranty repairs as possible... even when they were obligated to do so. They even had internal training sessions that taught employees techniques for getting the company to avoid warranty repairs. OFFICIAL FUCKING INTERNAL POLICY was to blameshift whenever possible. After working there a year working there they offered him a phone "at cost" and he still turned it down based on his experiences, and went out and bought a Moto G instead (this was around 2014). After another 6 months he quit, couldn't sleep at night thinking about all the honest consumers he screwed.

I don't know why people praise and buy Samsung's gookshit.

And how are all the other aspects of this phone, like battery life, performance, cameras etc?

>Why are manlets so vocal about having tiny hands?

6'4" master race checking in to tell you that there are reasons other to want a smaller phone. I absolutely love my Doogee Y6 MAX 6.5" phone, it's a totally great tablet. It really is. However I do grab the cheap old Huawei Y360 on my way out the door much more often than the Y6. The Huawei is 4" therefore it fits into even the smallest of pockets. It's not heavy and it doesn't take up much space. It is suitable for anything beyond music and phone calls? No, obviously not, 4" is too small to type on with an on-screen keyboard and it's too small for general web browsing and shitposting.. but it sure is easier to drag that 4" along than it is to bring the 6.5". That one requires a bag or a man-purse or something like that.

I own a Redmi 2 and am looking for a 2nd similar phone.

I'm looking for an Android phone with
- Android version 5.0 or better (custom ROMs ok)
- max. 4.7" in size
- not 320x240 resolution
- RAM 1.5 GB or more
- used ok

I've searched for Redmi 2 on ebay but it's not available anywhere, except for twice the money I paid for mine over a year ago.

Any recommendations on smaller non-shitty phones?

I've read a few tear-downs of the new Nokia like http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_6_teardown_built_like_a_tank-blog-24253.php

Sounds like it's a very solid phone. Nokia phones used to have very good cameras (compared to what was standard at the time) back in the day so perhaps they deliver there too.

Still, it's kind of a joke seeing a new phone or any phone from them. Nokia used to .. well, make phones. Then the formerly Microsoft CEO decided to only make Windows phones.

Wikipedia sums up Stephen Elop's run at Nokia this way: "During Elop's tenure, Nokia's stock price dropped 62%, their mobile phone market share was halved, their smartphone market share fell from 33% to 3%, and the company suffered a cumulative €4.9 billion loss". Great.. job. Really hard to see any Nokia phone without laughing...

Forget it. If you go up to 5" then there's a whole range of phones you can pick and choose from with better specs like 3GB RAM/32GB storage (the minimum you should require/expect in 2017) and fullHD screen.

Below 5" you're looking at pure garbage with the one exception I am aware of: Sony Xperia Compact's. These are all rather expensive but if you can find a used one then go for it. All of them are 4.6". My brother has one and he is really happy with it but he doesn't do anything on his phone beyond make phone calls and take pictures. My personal opinion is that 4.6" is just too small to type on a on-screen keyboard and browse the internet and things like that. Not sure which he has, I think Sony Xperia Z5 compact. they are all the same, though, sony xperia $something compact is just how new it is, $something just changes when they release a new one.

I actually almost bought one of these myself the other day, noticed a local advertisement with a dude selling a used Z5 compact one for $250. I didn't because $250 for a phone from September 2015 with a small notice in the ad saying "Bought through carrier, may be locked to carrier, not sure" seemed a bit expensive. Ordered a 5" Redmeme 4 Pro from Chink Express instead.

>OFFICIAL FUCKING INTERNAL POLICY was to blameshift whenever possible

I know it's totally outrageous that Samsung does this. It's unacceptable. But don't put too much into the fact that Samsung does instruct their customer support to blame customers for hardware faults in their phones - it's standard SOP for just about every single producer of electronics.

>>59691854
> you have nothing proving those stories to be true

I don't need proof to know that those stories are true because it's so common and such a standard practice that it would be a shock if they didn't.

It should also be noted that there are quite a few internal Samsung documents that do show clear absolute evidence of grave criminal activity by Samsung and quite a few of those taken in the various raids are publicly available (in korean).

That's more or less what someone says when they feel trapped, or want to keep doing something they know they shouldn't. Claim the downsides are fatalistic and will happen with 100% certainty anyway. Fortunately, that's all bullshit, and it isn't certain.

>Sterility is a good thing if it stops third worlders from breeding so much
Lot to be said about this. Regardless, it won't only be stopping third worlders, it'll be stopping you. Imagine your kid coming out with problems they'll have to deal with for life, autism, deformities. Or simply coming to a point where you want children, but can't.

I feel like the experiment is over, or was contaminated somehow. Now we're being purged. Lot of old sci-fi about that.

I never ever use a phone/tablet in the shower, why would I. And I do have a waterproof phone (BV6000).

I do, however, put a phone or tablet, mostly a tablet, on the side of the bathtub all the time. I have a uncommon one with a "table" surface on part of the side of it for magazines and such where I put it on a stand. It really is nice to soak in the tub with bath salts and bubbles and watch k-pop music videos and that kind of thing.

The tablet I have isn't waterproof and that's never been a problem but it would be a nice feature to have just in case.

>How significant would a jump from 1 GB of RAM to 2 GB be
It really makes a difference if you use more than one app, specially if you are using memory-intensive apps. Modern phones all have 3GB RAM or more in 2017, it's not 2015 or something so don't even consider phones with 1 or 2 MB as worthy alternatives. They are not.

On phones with little RAM background apps are either closed or swapped out. On a phone with enough RAM you can use one app a little and jump to another app and a third app and jump back to the first app and it's all instant with zero delay. I still have a cheap 7" tablet with 1GB RAM and a Intel Atom CPU (the worst mobile CPUs imho). Going from one app to another on that thing takes ages. On my modern mediatek SOC phone with 3GB RAM it's instant.

For some silly things it kind of matters. I played Chimpokoman Yo on a phone with 2 GB a bit. Jumped out from the game and into the browser to view the map like someone I played together with did. When I jumped back to the browser the game app was closed and had to be reloaded - which took ages.

There are a bunch of $120-150 cheap phones out of China with 3GB RAM/32GB storage. Don't accept anything less. I've seen local stores offering phones with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage for twice as much, not sure who actually buys that.

Good shit
>>
>>59696227
The "powerstation plus mini" has a $60 price tag. I'm not sure if that's a joke or not but a 10000mAh powerbank with a built-in flash-light costs $20 most places. That powerstation thing just has 4000mAh which barely charges a modern phone one time.

That anker ultra-compact charger at $14 is atleast fairly priced. It's only rated 3200mAh which isn't enough to fully charge most modern phones but it's very small and at that price it's probably worth it. My powerbank (10000mAh) is about the size of a pack of cigarettes so lip-stick size is much easier to carry around.

I picked up a Redmi Note Pro 3 from chinkbest about two months ago. Cost me sub two hundred smackos. The shifty slants had flashed a non-genuine rom that had ads plastered on everything and any attempt to remove that voids warranty and because the bootloader is locked by Xia, you have to do a bunch of hacky bullshit to get it up and running.

That being said, after you remove ricenoodle it's actually pretty decent for what it is and what I paid. It's not fucking magical and Ling Ling didn't suck me off like I was expecting but overall I'm happy with it. It replaced my samsungu note 2 and it does fine. The lineage rom is a steaming pile of shit so I just went back to the global rom and threw freedom/lp onto it. It's pretty comfy.

Don't use ES, it's legit chinese botnet though if your phone is a xiaomi running official miui then forget i said anything and stick with it, they already know everything about you.

Either Solid Explorer (playstore) or Ghost Commander (fdroid if you went full freetard), Amaze is also good but it doesn't support OTG iirc.

He also forgot to mention that you need to buy OTG support for solid explorer from the store in order to do that, the license for solid alone won't let you view the contents of your OTG, both cost less than a dollar so it's no problem but if you're a poorfag you might want to pirate from somewhere.

My GF's phone is breaking down and she put a bid aside for a new one.
I got myself the Moto G 4th recently and I would have recommended the same to her, but she says it's way too big. her current is some HTC One mini with complete Metal housing, the dimensions are 13x6x0,9cm and she said it should be either that small or possibly even smaller, she prefers to keep it in her pocket.
it's gotta be android and not too costly. she uses it for communication and a bit of gaming. her needs are mostly a half-decent display that doesnt give her eyecancer and a long battery life, she commutes a lot. Also shouldn't break at the slightest touch. A pricepoint isn't fixed yet, but she prefers to keep it below the 250€ if possible

So, any recommendations?

I'd briefly looked at it. I know I'm in the minority but I wish the screen was bigger. I'm pleasantly surprised it still has a removable battery that's a major boon. Does it have similar audio focused features to the V10?

Yes I don't use ES. I'm the solid explorer anon. And I bought the pro version of Solid explorer and OTG worked out of the box without having to purchase anything else so I'm unsure what you mean about solid explorer requiring separate OTG to be bought. Pic related. I only have solid explorer pro and the free FTP module.

Yes it has an internal DAC. Some people were reporting a DAC firmware bug in the V20 but I believe it has been patched. Whatever the problem was.

Snapdragon or exynos? Stick with pajeet roms and throw a kernel at it, Lineage most likely won't support either the fingerprint, stylus or both.

I've got an old beat up Samsung S3, and I can feel it breaking on me soon. Thing is that, I use it about 20 minutes a day, mostly Messenger, or rarely an e-book.

So to the point, how good would a $100-150 second hand blackberry work out for these purposes? I value a bright display, nice feel to it, not being impractical and of course battery life.

Was considering buying a Redmi Note 4X but apparently the process of unlocking the bootloader on newer Xiaomi handsets is a pain in the ass and not always possible.

Particularly read about a "10008 API error" on particular handsets (including Note 4X).

Is this true? Anyone have experience with this. I have no interest in using MIUI and would only buy the phone if I could flash a different ROM (There seem to be many available).

I need a phone that will last at least 3-4 years and a good battery to play LoveLive without dropping from 100 to 60 in 15 minutes.

Or maybe, can changing the battery of the M7 be a good idea ?
>>
>>59700595
Used to have an S3 like you. Got myself a rn3p on sale and absolutely love it. Giant screen to fit more book on screen, colors look great, giant battery, and lineage works great.
Although I suppose if a really fast/amazing camera is necessary, you should look elsewhere. Oh and if you're not ok with dealing with roms. In that case Moto or Huawei is the route to take.

Don't bother with the second hand blackberries.

I wish mine wasn't such a piece of shit

>almost set itself on fire from the included usb cable
>they just replace whatever motherboard the usb is on, sending back my original phone instead of replacing it
>can't use it to tether anymore (over usb or wifi)
>battery loss is noticible
>included "case" gets extremely dirty and holds marks from everything
>poor transfer speeds over wifi (it fucking supports wireless ac)

Otherwise it's a great phone for everything else it offers. I convinced my brother to get it and his has zero problems so I'm going to guess it's all me in this case. Might have to use my warranty for the second time to see if I can't fix the tethering issue because it's probably going to become a bigger issue at some point.

I'm also disappointed that they didn't bother to just replace my phone, but oh well. Then again I feel like I've had bad luck with my other phones- 1st gen moto g, zenfone 2 (intel -heh), samsung galaxy s4. Get a new phone and a year later it's already having some charging issue or just plain fucking doesn't work.

Hello folks, I have pic related (http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_ascend_y300-5386.php).

I'm looking to root it, but everything I have found about Android 4.1.1 is very old and scares me into thinking I might ruing my phone. I know it's not a very good smartphone by today's standards, but I can't afford a new one. Could someone well versed please point me out to still valid resources regarding older android versions' rooting? Thanks in advance.

Do you have an unlocked bootloader? If so, you potentially could flash a new OS version and keep your files.

Are the files on an SD Card? You should be able to retrieve them if this is the case.

Otherwise, you might be out of luck. Make sure to keep backups next time so you don't get screwed again by LG's bootloops or hardware failure.
>>
>>59706679
I don't recall unlocking the bootloader, so that probably won't help.

I had some stuff on an SD card and my contacts backed up with Lookout, but a lot of shit saved on board the phone that I thought I set to save to the SD card.
