Why would anyone use anything besides the objectively best distro?

Once you use pacman you can never go back
I had to try a couple distros to fix a broken boot loader and all I can say is I dislike fedora and mint a lot more after using debian for so long.
debian has been nothing but issues since i started using it

Arch does by the way

mint does too

That's not Arch, Manjaro or Ubuntu. Debian packagers don't even their job right.

or something rpm based
or arch
or gentoo
anything that doesnt use apt
bump for greatest os

Because you like the reduced the functionality or because -Sy[y]u is cooler to type than [dist-]upgrade (brackets not related).
Don't get me wrong: Archlinux fits my current usecase and I will probably stick with it (untill I have time to deal with distributed compilation for gentoo) on my PC.

Either apt is an unpredictable bitch, or the devs at Debian are retards for not posting any expected "strange behaviors" in advance, or the devs are simply incompetent. I lean towards the last two options because somehow Ubuntu manages to have fewer problems while using the same package manager.

Use Devuan instead
